When DLC-Democrats don't want something that their supporters want, they make up the most amazing excuses to try to convince their supporters that "We really would like to do that, but our hands are tied by _________."



When it's something that they really want, their hands all of a sudden become untied.



Using reconciliation to get a real healthcare reform bill through is one example. Another is the filibuster (or more accurately, threatening to filibuster versus actually forcing Republicans to filibuster).



Changing the supermajority number is another.



"It can only be done at the beginning of a new congress."



Not true.
