Military Spending Waste: Up To $60B In Iraq, Afghanistan War Funds Lost To Poor Planning, Oversight, Fraud

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

Americans are losing our jobs, our homes, our Social Security, Medicare, police, firemen, teachers, and going into debt to China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, (even our grandchildren won't be able to pay it off), for wars to protect and increase riches for the top elites (an oil pipeline & mineral riches in Afghanistan, not to mention the oil contracts in Iraq and now Libya).  These are riches that ordinary Americans don't get profits from, but that the Establishment Elites (Dick Cheney and the Bush family among them) all are getting rich(er) from.

The American people derive only increased risk to our personal safety because those Afghans and Iraqis (and now Libyans) frustrated over the k!lling of their families and friends and of being occupied turn terr0r!st because they can't get at the political leaders ordering the bombing and occupation of their country (Obama doesn't fly commercial, doesn't have to be gr0pe-searched or exposed to X-ray radiation to travel for his job or visit family on Thanksgiving).

Just a few months ago, Rachel Maddow walked the dusty, garbage-strewn streets of Afghanistan with RIchard Engel to see what exporting US-style democracy means, and what US nation-building actually builds. Watch this to see where are our tax dollars going, and learn how we are not "nation-building", not making us safer, and not helping the Afghans or building their nation at all (or a democracy). Learn how this has all been just a huge rip-off of the American people:

The US as 'Empire' has been continuing under Obama and a Democratically-controlled Congress that has had a bigger arsenal of tools available to them as the majority in power, controlling both chambers of Congress and the White House, than Republicans had as the minority.

Super Committee Members Plan Fundraisers During Deficit Talks

And the co-chairs of the 'Super Congress' (Patty Murray and Jeb Hensarling) just hired the Mark Prater, who works for the Republican minority (for both Chuck Grassley and Orrin Hatch) to be the staff director of the committee.  Prater "was instrumental in ferrying President Bush’s tax-cut package through the Senate Finance Committee in 2001".

“It was a watershed bill with across-the-board rate reductions,” he explained. “It brought changes in family tax relief, retirement security, education, and estate and gift taxes — broad-based changes.” As majority chief tax counsel, Prater played a critical role in planning how to “set the table” for the Senate’s review of the package. “We planned the Senate’s review of all the major tax reform issues and set up hearings on their components,” he explained. He added that much of his time was spent analyzing reform issues and advising the Finance Committee chairman on the benefits and drawbacks of each.

Gabrielle Giffords Walking, Writing, Aide Says

Elementary special education teacher Anthony Prowell of Tucson has filed to run against Giffords as a Democrat, the Los Angeles Times reports, on the promise of representing everyday people's concerns in Congress. Prowell, however, is registered as an Independent and has received zero support from the Democratic party. He told the Times he may decide to run as a Green party candidate rather than as a Democrat.

Prowell said he would have challenged Giffords regardless of the Tucson shooting that killed six people and injured 13, including Giffords. Yet he said he was also motivated by the fact that Giffords may not run for re-election, potentially leaving the seat open for a Republican.
