Barney Frank: I Won't Vote For Tax Cut Deal (VIDEO)

What you're saying is simply not true.

We know through several sources and reports over the years that whether it's Saudi citizens or members of the royal family, they're supporting groups like Al Qaeda and the Saudi government does nothing about it:

Saudi Arabia is the world's largest source of funds for Islamist militant groups such as the Afghan Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba – but the Saudi government is reluctant to stem the flow of money, according to Hillary Clinton.

Barney Frank: I Won't Vote For Tax Cut Deal (VIDEO)

abbyrose86   9 minutes ago (6:54 PM)

"Unlike YOU...I live in reality...and am not a ideologue.

I'm practical."

===========================================

No, you're one of those people who stands for nothing and falls for anything.

We could forget about values and positions altogether, rename the Democratic Party (hang a 'DEMOCRATIC REPUBLICAN PARTY' sign on the door of the DNC) and all members of Congress would be Democrats.  But do you think that's going to do anything about our core differences on issues?  I assume that you're pro-choice, AbbyRose86 -- Are you willing to bear the child of your r@p!st when those 'new' Democrats insist that ab0rt!0n be outlawed?  When do you finally fight, AbbyRose86, for anything that you purport to believe in and want?

I suspect you don't fight because we haven't come to anything of 'yours' yet.  You're perfectly ok with compromising away other Democrats' issues because they don't impact you.  But I'm sure that when we get to one of your issues that Obama trades away, we'll see the hellfire come out.   You'd better hope there's someone left to give a d@mn.

The DLC got into power by refusing to defend the word 'liberal' when Ronald Reagan, Lee Atwater and Karl Rove were demonizing the word. Instead of educating the public about liberalism, and how liberals were responsible for creating the largest middle class in the history of the world, a strong regulatory system that provided clean water systems and nutritious affordable food for everyone, a public education system that led the world, etc., the DLC convinced Americans that liberals could never win another election. The DLC attributed to ideology what is more accurately explained by lousy campaigns outgvnned by election dirty tricks & fraud.

What we are dealing with is a corporate takeover of the US government.  And Obama is a DINO - A Democrat-In-Name-Only.  He's not a "centrist" as has been sold to us from his entry onto the national stage -- "Privately, Obama describes himself as a Blue Dog Democrat."

House Dems To Biden: 'One Year Of Unemployment Benefits For Two Years Of Tax Breaks For The Rich?'

The Bush tax cuts were never meant to be permanent.  They were lobbied 10 years ago as "temporary", to "stimulate the economy" -- THAT NEVER HAPPENED!

We've been borrowing, from China and Saudi Arabia (which then takes our interest payments to fund Al Qaeda) and Iran of all places (yes, the Treasury has been secretly selling our debt to Iran!), to pay for the rich's tax cuts.

To end tax cuts that were never paid for, that they never put into job creation, is NOT "raising taxes".

To say it that way, that "ending the tax cuts is raising taxes", is Republican spin.  But early on we saw David Axelrod on Hardball spewing it that way, using the GOP'S talking points:

"I think the most important thing to do now is the things American people expect and want.  One is to make sure they don't wake up on January 1st with a very large tax increase because the tax cuts were scheduled to expire at that time and there's a great sense of urgency on the part of the president.  I think that is shared on the part of the republicans to make sure that doesn't happen."

This is right out of the Republicans' playbook.

Republicans have been framing the expiration of Bush's tax cuts as a tax increase.  And Axelrod and Obama have embraced the Republicans' perspective.  Obama spun it that way in his contentious and defensive news conference yesterday.

Here's the 'Rule of Thumb' about when tax cuts make sense:  When a nation's bills are paid.  When the nation is in surplus.  When a tax cut requires a nation to borrow more money, adding to the deficit, increasing the national debt, that's robbing the People to give to the rich.  Average Americans, our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, for generations to come, are getting stuck with this bill.

Bush's tax "cuts" this past decade were all borrowed and spent, and they did nothing to stimulate the economy.  The money is all gone.  We're now stuck with cleaning up the party that the rich had.  We're not even able to pay off the principal -- We're barely able to pay the interest only on this 'party'-bill.

By ending Bush's tax "cuts", Democrats are stopping the flow of red ink.

No "buts".  Please.  Stop with the "yes, but..."s.

Every concession that Obama caved on, EVERY SINGLE ONE, was something that Republicans weren't going to let d!e.  They have poor and middle class constituents, too, y'know?

The Ghosts Of Health Care Deals Past: Industry Negotiations Could Haunt WH In New GOP-Led Congress

There is going to be a double-dip recession with or without this "compromise by Obama".

There have been 3 million f0reclosures so far in this meltdown; there are 11 million more in the pipeline.  15 million families are about to face f0reclosure.

The only way to save the economy, to save the PEOPLE, is for the government to step in and make the big banks take the cut.

WHAT IS OBAMA DOING ABOUT THAT???

Oh, I forgot; Obama's extending the Bush tax cuts for the rich and granting them exemptions to the estate tax.

How did Obama get to be in the position to override Democrats in negotiating a deal with Republicans?

Just like in the healthcare legislation, when Obama said, "It's Congress's job to write legislation" and then he went behind the backs of the committees writing legislation, undercutting both Democratic politicians and Democrats' constituents, as well as all of the American people?

"WHY the voters DID NOT get out and vote for more candidates"
=====================================================

Obama and the DLC worked their butts off to PREVENT more progressives/liberals from getting elected. Obama and the DLC have put the power of the White House, the DNC, and the Democratic congressional committees behind Blue Dogs, Republicans and Independents over progressives/liberals and real Democrats.  Some, but not all, examples:

Blue Dog Blanche Lincoln over progressive Democrat Lt. Governor Bill Halter.

Republican-turned-Independent Arlen Specter over progressive Democrat Joe Sestak.

Republican-turned-Independent Lincoln Chaffee over Democrat Frank Caprio (which, in turn, is an effective endorsement of the Republican John Loughlin over Democrat David Cicilline for the congressional seat Democrat Patrick Kennedy is retiring from, and all of the other seats up for grab in Rhode Island).

Republican-turned-Independent Charlie Crist over liberal Democrat Kendrick Meek.

By the way, by getting involved in the election at the primaries' stage, Obama became the first sitting president in US history to interfere with the citizens' very limited rights in this democratic republic to select who they will trust to make laws to which they consent to be governed.

Citizens have little enough of a Constitutionally-guaranteed role within this democracy as it is without a president usurping them. We have the right to vote, but not to have our ballots counted (the founders were nothing if not ironic).  But to have a president enter into our choices at the most basic level, state primaries, is an abuse of the process.

They've all got to go, along with mushy middle-of-the-road thinking voters.  Voters need to get better informed.  Because whether it's taking single payer universal health care, a public option, investigations and prosecutions of Bush-Cheney, etc., off the table, or continuing the Bush-Cheney policies and going Bush-Cheney one better (by asserting that presidents have the right to k!ll American citizens with no due process, no oversight, and 'preventive detention', the right to imprison anyone indefinitely because he thinks they might commit a crime), or using Joe Lieberman to hide behind, to duck out on his campaign pledge of transparency, and gut the FOIA, no real Democrat, no real American, could continue to support Obama or any politicians purporting to be Democrats, or any American politican doing this.

You'll Never Guess Whose Taxes Are Going To Go Up Because Of The Tax Cut 'Compromise'

No, it's called "the human being"-route.

The Democratic Party has a platform.  It's what distinguishes Democrats from Republicans.  Only now, due to the DLC having hijacked the Democratic Party, Democrats-In-Name-Only (DINOs) hide in plain sight and working against Democratic ideals and for helping Republicans achieve their goals.  One of them even sits in the Oval Office.

The reason that has happened is because corporations have gamed our political system so effectively that the two-party system competes to serve corporate interests which corporations defend as, "What's good for GM (corporations) is good for America (We the People)".

Both parties, both the DLC Democrats who control the Democratic Party and Republicans, are corporate t00Is.

At the top of Big Businesses' shopping lists to Democrats & Republicans is "Give us more money. And if you can't do that, if you can't fool the average American voter into going along with that, then let us be able to rake it in as we've been doing."

That's what Obama's "Healthcare Reform" legislation was all about. Republicans had their turn at delivering to Big Insurance & PhRma in 2003 with the Medicare Reform Act. After that, corporations shifted their donations to the Democrats.

When politicians have had the chance to reform campaign financing (all publicly financed) and elections, they've refused and made it more 'exclusive' (harder for third party/independent challengers), controlled by corporate media and accessible by only those with huge bankrolls.
The fix is in, and they've fixed it, but good.

Presidential Potshots: Is There Any Excuse?

If Bush's tax cuts are allowed to expire as they are set to on December 31st, the deficit would be cut in half, instantly.

Obama's deal requires more borrowing, another $450 BILLION, from China, Saudi Arabia (which uses our interest payments to support Al Qaeda), and Iran (yes, Iran owns us, has for years, US Treasury has been selling us to them for years, all done secretly -- ain't that a kick in the head?).

If the tax cuts are continued for the next ten years, we will have to borrow $4 trillion.  Tax cuts for the rich -- $4 TRILLION!

It becomes $4 TRILLION for continuing this deal over 10 years.  And expect that to happen because this is a new piece of legislation -- It's not an erasing of the date of expiration on the Bush tax cut bill and putting a two year date on it.  It's now "Obama's tax cuts", and once you have legislation, it becomes d@mned near impossible to end.  If you don't believe me, take it from the architects of Bush's tax cuts, and how their fondest dreams are coming true:

“We knew that, politically, once you get it into law, it becomes almost impossible to remove it,” says Dan Bartlett, Bush’s former communications director. “That’s not a bad legacy. The fact that we were able to lay the trap does feel pretty good, to tell you the truth.” [...]

[Democrats] are definitely on the defensive,” Card says. “The fact that the 10-year clock ran out now had a big impact on the election.”

Nothing will change in 2 years, before the 2012 election.  Why would it?  The economy is worsening, despite Obama's abzurd assertions.  Unemployment's up to 9.8%.  3 million foreclosures so far, 11 MILLION IN THE PIPELINE!  Obama just got a NAFTA-like deal with S. Korea; that's more Americans' jobs outsourced overseas.

Obama is expanding the wars into Yemen.

Where's the money coming from?

Obama and Democratic leadership have already indicated they're on board with Social Security cuts, privatizing, etc.  And Obama's little deal with the GOP sets that up, the gutting of Social Security -- See how here.

There should be tax HIKES on corporations and the rich.  There should be massive cuts to the military.  Banks should be threatened with nationalization unless they begin lending to small businesses.

Jim DeMint: I'll Filibuster Tax Cut Plan

Obama cut a deal that Democratic members of Congress did NOT ask him to do.  He knee-capped them, and instead of listening to Democrats, instead of listening to the People, Obama's fighting his own party.

He's trying to influence the public, to provoke those who are not well-informed into going along with the deal.  The "mushy middle", as I call them, those Independent voters who make up their minds about who to vote for in each election at the last possible moment, based on who got to them right before they entered the voting booth, is who Obama is targeting.

I think what's particularly noteworthy is that Obama is going against the base of the Democratic Party.  The people who actually worked to get him into the White House.

This really is a fight for the soul of the Democratic Party, a w@r between the DLC (DINOs, the Republican wing of the Democratic Party, pro-corporate, pro-war, anti-populist) and real Democrats (those who support the platform of the Democratic Party).  It's a war that Democratic voters thought they'd fought and won for 3 election cycles now, but each time the DLC has swooped in and taken over the controls again.  This latest time, with a quisling candidate (Barack Obama).

Obama's deal throws Democratic constituents and those that the Democratic Party is known to champion (the poor, middle classes, the elderly, students, the unemployed, families, the disenfranchised) under the bus.

The extension of unemployment for 13 months is a drop in the bucket, and it doesn't cover the 99ers (those whose unemployment has run out).  This deal does nothing to develop jobs, and as anyone who has gotten unemployment knows, it's d@mned near impossible to live off of.  Consider this deal along with the NAFTA-like deal that Obama just completed with S. Korea; many more Americans are going to be losing their jobs to outsourcing overseas.

Do you know that every single item in the deal that Obama claims was a win for Democrats is actually all Republican initiated?

I keep trying to remind people of what was reported in the NYT last week:

"Privately, Obama describes himself as a Blue Dog Democrat (Blue Dog = Republican)."

Americans, particularly Democratic voters, are getting played, big time.

David Axelrod: Americans Would Have Gotten 'Screwed' Without Tax Cut Deal (VIDEO)

We borrowed money, went into debt these past ten years so that we could give the rich money.

Me, my kids, your kids, our grandchildren, great-grandchildren, will be paying the interest only on what the rich were given these past ten years.

We borrowed from China, Saudi Arabia (who then supported Al Qaeda), and Iran (ain't that a kick in the head?), all secretly, it turns out; Iran owns us.

The rich have gotten tax exemptions and tax breaks and even tax credits and bribes, arrangements that aren't available to people like you and me (I assume that you're not one of the rich).  The rich incorporate, and are able to write off all of their living expenses.  They're living free, and you and I are paying their way in life.

Oh yes, let's keep doing that.

David Axelrod: Americans Would Have Gotten 'Screwed' Without Tax Cut Deal (VIDEO)

Obama cut a deal that Democratic members of Congress did NOT ask him to do.  He knee-capped them, and instead of Democrats, instead of listening to the People, Obama's fighting his own party.

This is yet again, slick o!ly corporate-owned politicians trying to pitching the 'lemming'-argument - "Everybody else wants it."

So what?  If everyone else was jumping off a cliff, would you jump, too?

What the White House is really trying to do with this 'private data' is say that those opposing extending the Bush tax cuts are too stvp!d to know that going into more debt to make the rich richer and the poor and middle classes poorer is really a good thing.

Did you know that Obama's deal also sets up gutting Social Security?
