Idaho Abortion Lawsuit: Jennie Linn McCormack Challenges State Fetal Pain Law

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

If the fetus was anesthesized (incapable of feeling anything), would that be all right with you?

Do you actively support government aid to families with dependent children?  Do you actively support increasing the funds for public education? Do you actively support sex education in public schools and free birth control for anyone who wants it?  How about increasing money for foster parenting?

Idaho Abortion Lawsuit: Jennie Linn McCormack Challenges State Fetal Pain Law

After reading some of the comments condemning this woman for, 1) having sex and getting pregnant, 2) having sex and getting pregnant while she already has three children, and 3) getting pregnant and not having an abortion earlier, I'm not surprised we're in this culture war in our nation.

Sex is a natural human function.  Contraception isn't foolproof.  Raising children on $200-$250/month is difficult (if not impossible) without having to spend money traveling out of her region of the country to find an abortion clinic and pay for those medical services (the base cost is $350 to $1,000).

Why would you care that a woman, a stranger, wholly unrelated to you, has an abortion?  Only about 25,000 US-born children are placed for adoption annually.  Women tend to keep their children, even if the pregnancy was not planned or wanted.

Just in California, close to 100,000 children are in foster care.  Of those children, 31 percent were under the age of 5.

Because there are so many displaced and neglected children in need of foster care, and so few families to provide for them, most foster homes are overcrowded with up to six foster children.

An average foster baby will live in three different homes before his first birthday. On average, a child will remain in foster care for 26.6 months.

This revolving door of care puts children at risk for Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), which leads to a lifetime of disrupted relationships.

Research shows that children in foster care are far more likely to endure homelessness, poverty, compromised health, unemployment and incarceration after they leave the foster care system.

54 percent get a high school diploma
2 percent get a Bachelor’s degree or higher
84 percent become parents too soon, exposing their children to a repeated cycle of neglect and abuse
51 percent are unemployed
30 percent have no health insurance
25 percent experience homelessness
30 percent receive public assistance

These figures are five years old.

So tell me why do you care?

I think you miss the point.

There is virtually no privacy or rights left to the American citizen, much less citizens of other countries.  The NSA and dozens, if not hundreds, of other agencies have access to all of our communications and records.  And even with all of this extraordinary transparency (all one way -- We The People can't get information about our government's activities), it's good old fashioned investigatory skills, informants, that have led to the apprehension of Al Qaeda operatives and uncovering plans for violence.

FWIW, Nixon wasn't impeached; he resigned from office before he could be impeached.  Gerald Ford preemptively pardoned Nixon before full and public investigations could be carried out and charges against him filed.

I believe that the failure to let justice take its course set the stage for what Republicans have been able to do to this nation ever since.

Dick Cheney Book: Reactions To The Vice President's Memoir 'In My Time' (PHOTOS)

This is the result of "looking forward, not back".

Why is Dick Cheney (and George W. Bush, too, for that matter) being allowed to crawl back into polite society to rehabilitate his image and spread revisionist history about 9/11, WMD in Iraq, the economic meltdown, and the nightmare he caused us and the world?

Why isn't he having to spend 24/7 with his lawyers, working on a way to stay out of prison?

Because Obama and the DLC-Democrats have blocked all investigations and prosecutions into Bush-Cheney and Republicans, and have allowed them to resurrect themselves and take back control over government.

And because of Obama's failure to restore the Constitution and return us to the rule of law by holding Bush, Cheney, et al, accountable, JEB Bush was all over the news on 2010 election night as the man behind Florida's new Tea Party Senator, Marco Rubio. So expect a Jeb Bush run at the presidency in the not-to-distant-future. Perhaps with Liz Cheney on the ticket with him.

This is Obama's fault -- The buck stops squarely at his feet.

When Obama came into power, the GOP wasn't on the ropes; it was down for the count because of the devastation that Bush-Cheney had caused the nation. And Obama issued Bush-Cheney and Republicans (essentially) a pardon.  None of them express any remorse or contrition.  As a matter of fact, they're rested and ready for another round of tax cuts for the rich and slicing-and-dicing Social Security, Medicare, and anything else they can get their hands on that would help the People.

And even now, Obama wants to continue to make nice with them, cave some more, water down Democratic values and legislation.  Obama's not any kind of real Democrat, he's a DINO, and if you didn't like the Republican Party of the last 35 years, the party of Reagan (forget just the past 10), you're going to hate where Obama and the DLC are taking the 'new and improved' Democratic Party from which they hope "to govern for 100 years"; a world where George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are welcomed as experts, authorities, on saving the United States from "global extremism".

Lawrence Wilkerson: Dick Cheney 'Fears Being Tried' For War Crimes (VIDEO)

Bush happened because of the pardoning of Nixon. The Nixon pardon happened because of Cheney and Rumsfeld. These are not disconnected events. These people have been up to mischief for a long while. They never got over Watergate and their fall from grace. They never believed they did anything wrong. And due to the Patriot Act, Republicans (with the help of DLC-controlled Democrats) have managed to make Nixon's criminal acts against Daniel Ellsberg legal.  Habeas corpus has been overturned, and posse comitatus is no more.

Running from these facts isn't going to make the Nixon-Reagan-Bush-Cheney-GOP-Conservatives behave, or go away. Waiting them out, until they d!e, isn't going to end it -- They've raised and trained an army of 'true believers' to carry on after they're gone.

Investigations and trials go a long way in dealing with that. It's not their minds you want to change, but the millions of Americans who never knew the facts. They broke the law, and we enforce the law so that people KNOW the laws and live by them. If People don't agree with the laws, if they don't like the laws, they can change the laws. But the People have to have a direct experience and understanding of the laws before they can change them. And that's how you get an informed, healthy and active democracy. With a knowledgeable electorate.

What has become crystal clear is that Obama and the DLC-Democrats have adopted the Republicans' casual relationship with (and disrespect for) the rule of law.  Preserving the rule of law underpins how the US has been the most successful, longest running democracy in world history.

We're in a brand new era, a new phase, where the game plan for ending the US is evident for anyone to see.  And it begins and ends with the rule of law.  By refusing to investigate and prosecute Bush, by "looking forward, not back", Obama has broken the covenant that the American people have with their government.

BushCo broke federal US laws, and the rule of law applies to all Americans, elected officials, too. Elected officials especially.

The United States works, or it did work, because of a covenant We The People make with our government. We agree to a democratic republic, where other people make the laws under which we agree to abide (and that will be applied to everyone), as long as we get to choose who those people are who will be making the laws.

It is under those conditions that we consent to be governed.

When we no longer trust in the process, when we no longer trust that the selection process by which our elected representatives is fair and accurate, or that the laws don't apply equally to all, then all bets are off.

And no government can stand once that happens.

For a president of the United States not to equally apply the law to all people, presidents, too, means that the grand experiment is over.

Not prosecuting BushCo is destroying the country. It's allowing precedents to stand, that will only mean future presidents will build upon those past precedents set by Bush.

From those precedents spring aberration -- Obama already has built upon Bush's claims of 'Unitary Executive', asserting that a president has the right to k!ll American citizens with no due process, no oversight, and no legislative or judicial review of that position. Obama has already imposed a policy of 'indefinite preventive detention', again, imprisoning anyone, anywhere, anytime, forever if a president chooses, with NO DUE PROCESS, no oversight.

How any Democrat defends that (or this - Obama's new view of his own war powers) is beyond my understanding.

Military Spending Waste: Up To $60B In Iraq, Afghanistan War Funds Lost To Poor Planning, Oversight, Fraud

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

Americans are losing our jobs, our homes, our Social Security, Medicare, police, firemen, teachers, and going into debt to China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, (even our grandchildren won't be able to pay it off), for wars to protect and increase riches for the top elites (an oil pipeline & mineral riches in Afghanistan, not to mention the oil contracts in Iraq and now Libya).  These are riches that ordinary Americans don't get profits from, but that the Establishment Elites (Dick Cheney and the Bush family among them) all are getting rich(er) from.

The American people derive only increased risk to our personal safety because those Afghans and Iraqis (and now Libyans) frustrated over the k!lling of their families and friends and of being occupied turn terr0r!st because they can't get at the political leaders ordering the bombing and occupation of their country (Obama doesn't fly commercial, doesn't have to be gr0pe-searched or exposed to X-ray radiation to travel for his job or visit family on Thanksgiving).

Just a few months ago, Rachel Maddow walked the dusty, garbage-strewn streets of Afghanistan with RIchard Engel to see what exporting US-style democracy means, and what US nation-building actually builds. Watch this to see where are our tax dollars going, and learn how we are not "nation-building", not making us safer, and not helping the Afghans or building their nation at all (or a democracy). Learn how this has all been just a huge rip-off of the American people:

“It was a watershed bill with across-the-board rate reductions,” he explained. “It brought changes in family tax relief, retirement security, education, and estate and gift taxes — broad-based changes.” As majority chief tax counsel, Prater played a critical role in planning how to “set the table” for the Senate’s review of the package. “We planned the Senate’s review of all the major tax reform issues and set up hearings on their components,” he explained. He added that much of his time was spent analyzing reform issues and advising the Finance Committee chairman on the benefits and drawbacks of each.

Chutzpah.

Obama Faces Trouble With Key Voters Ahead Of 2012: Poll

So the answer to my question is that you don't ever realize that you keep following the pro-corporate DLC plan to keep moving the government to the right, over and over again, even after Democrats had the largest majority in Congress in decades and held the White House and refused to use that power to reverse the past 40 years of deregulation-privatization that has destroyed this nation, even given the crisis opportunity that leaders have taken advantage of (and concocted) since the beginning of civilization.

You speak of "reality".  The truth is that "reality" is what you make it, and never has that been more evident than when Americans have looked to achieve the impossible.  Allies winning against the Nazi war machine was a pipe-dream until Lend-Lease and the Manhattan project became reality.  Splitting the atom.  Going to the moon ("in 10 years" yet) was a leap of faith which Kennedy made it a reality.  Irrigating the whole of western America by controlling a river, while simultaneously generating enough electric power to pay for it all and power cities was unfathomable, but we did just that when we built the Hoover Dam.

We have never been people who settle for what's do-able, and Obama has set the bar pretty low for what's "do-able" -- And all in the wrong direction.

George W. Bush To Keynote Summit On Fighting Extremism

Bush happened because of the pardoning of Nixon. The Nixon pardon happened because of Cheney and Rumsfeld. These are not just disconnected events.

George W. Bush To Keynote Summit On Fighting Extremism

George W. Bush To Keynote Summit On Fighting Extremism

This is the result of "looking forward, not back".

Why is George W. Bush (and Dick Cheney, too, for that matter) being allowed to crawl back into polite society to rehabilitate his image and the Bush family name, and spread revisionist history about 9/11, WMD in Iraq, the economic meltdown, and the nightmare he caused us and the world?

Why isn't he having to spend 24/7 with his lawyers, working on a way to stay out of prison?

Oh, that's right, I forgot: Because Obama and the DLC-Democrats have blocked all investigations and prosecutions into Bush-Cheney and Republicans, and have allowed them to resurrect themselves and take back control over government.

Obama's not any kind of real Democrat; he's a DINO.

And if you didn't like the Republican Party of the last 35 years, the party of Reagan (forget just the past 10), you're going to hate where Obama and the DLC are taking the 'new and improved' Democratic Party from which they hope "to govern for 100 years"; a world where George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are welcomed as experts, authorities, on saving the United States from "global extremism".

Elections 2012: Campaigns Find Some Truths Inconvenient

Republicans haven't been filibustering anything; they've only been threatening to filibuster.

Harry Reid could've actually forced Republicans and turncoat Democratic senators to filibuster. He didn't and doesn't.

Harry Reid has had no problem forcing the GOP to actually filibuster when it's something that the DLC wants and perceives it needs. For example, when Democrats needed unemployment benefits to continue because the masses were becoming 'critical', Reid had no problem calling Republican Jim Bunning's bluff to filibuster. Reid said, "Bring in the cots, do it" and Bunning and the GOP caved. Benefits for unemployed workers continued.

Democrats could even have changed the supermajority rule (it does NOT have to be done at the beginning of a new Congress, as some argued). It can be done at any time (see page 6 - http://fpc.state.gov/documents/organization/45448.pdf ].

But Democrats put off their critics for not forcing the Republicans to actually filibuster and changing Senate Rule 22 during the session by assuring fed-up Democratic voters, "We'll change the rule come the beginning of the next Congress".

They didn't.

There's not just one way (or even two) for Democrats to get bills passed without Republican votes.

But Obama and the DLC-controlled DemocraticParty didn't and aren't doing that. Because it might actually work to get Democratic voters' legislative agenda made into the law of the land and do good for the People.  And that's not what Obama and Company are there for. They're there to do the work of the transnational corporations.  Along with the Republicans, as was clearly evidenced the time that Harry Reid kept the Senate open (pro forma) so that Obama couldn't make recess appointments, collaborating with Republicans to keep progressives and liberals out of government.  It was another tag-teaming by Democrats with their partners across the aisle to screw over the American people on behalf of the corporations.

Ron Paul: FEMA Signals Too Much 'Dependency' On The Federal Government In Disasters (VIDEO)

The reason for a federal agency that responds to disasters instead of states is for when states are cut off and isolated, and help and supplies have to come from outside of the affected states.  For example, New York city only has about a one day's supply of food on hand and must be trucked in.

I don't find Ron Paul to be a particularly intelligent man.  His positions on wars and auditing the Fed are laudable, but his positions on regulations (none) and taxes (none) and abortion (none) aren't, and won't solve our problems and will only make our misery worse.

I saw him in an interview last week with Piers Morgan, and his response to why he was opposed to abortion under any circumstances was probably the most cowardly, intellectually dishonest response I've ever heard out of a politician.  Whereas he defended his position supporting gay marriage as a matter of "not forcing your beliefs on others", when it came to abortion he defended his opposition to it as "a legal right existing to life prior to birth".  Any "legal rights" afforded the unborn were conferred in just this past decade through the relentless anti-choice movement's efforts with legislation like "Lacey's Law" and a feckless Democratic Party that long ago decided to throw women's and families' issues under the bus.  Prior to that, before religious fanatics and spongey thinkers took over our government, in all other ways rights are conferred at birth.  That's when we legally recognize people as citizens with rights.

By conferring rights on an embryo/fetus, it's the same as if you removed a blood cell from your body (it has the same genetic material as an embryo/fetus) and said that it had rights to be kept alive.  Even those already born, fully formed citizens have no right to be kept alive through artificial means (life support machines).

Ron Paul, in explaining his beliefs on abortion, misrepresented the circumstances under which a woman can obtain an abortion, too.  That told me he's no honest agent.

Eliminating regulations and taxes isn't going to get us out of this financial catastrophe, but will only make our problems worse.  Cutting taxes doesn't create jobs.  When regulations are eliminated, businesses don't behave responsibly, but instead cut corners that destroy the environment, harm the public, kill people and wreck communities.

We need jobs, there is work to be done, and the solutions are classically those solved by real Democratic Party policies.  Our problem is that we have a Democratic Party trying to emulate the Republican Party, and it's adopting Republican policies.

Obama Faces Trouble With Key Voters Ahead Of 2012: Poll

Real Democratic policies aren't that hard to sell to Americans.  When most Americans want Medicare and other government programs which they've benefitted from to continue and teabaggers shout "No government control of healthcare; Get your hands off my Medicare", the answer is EDUCATION.

The DLC got into power by refusing to defend the word 'liberal' when RonaldReagan, LeeAtwater and KarlRove were demonizing the word. Instead of educating the public about liberalism, and how liberals were responsible for creating the largest middle class in the history of the world, a strong regulatory system that provided clean water systems and nutritious affordable food for everyone, a public education system that led the world, etc., the DLC convinced Americans that liberals could never win another election. The DLC attributed to ideology what is more accurately explained by lousy campaigns outgunned by election dirty tricks and fraud.

When informed of the issues, most Americans agree with liberal policies. Neither they (nor I) would characterize themselves as far-anything or extreme, but mainstream. For example, nobody likes the idea of abortion, but most Americans do not want the government involved if they find themselves in the predicament of an unwanted pregnancy. And if you frame it as, "You like to k!ll babies?!?! ?!?!", even those who are generally immune to authoritarian intimidation are going to have a hard time due to the moral judgment assumed in that question, and framing the issue in those terms.

If the Bush years taught us anything, it's that anyone can sell anything to Americans, if you're stolid and relentless in your sales pitch and tactics. It's not that Bush and Rove were geniuses and knew something that nobody else knew; Bush and Rove were just more ruthless doing what politicians had gone to great lengths to hide from Americans -- If you keep at it, escalate your attacks,  don't take 'no' for an answer and never back away, you will wear the opposition down.

We've been doing it your way, the DLC's way, for 20 years now, and the government and the DemocraticParty keeps moving farther to the right.  That's because your way is to lie to the American people and put Republicans-in-Democrats'-clothing into office. At the rate this is going, Republicans won't have to bother getting Roe overturned -- Why bother outlawing abortion when you've made it virtually impossible to obtain one?

If you and I are on the same side (as Obama's 'most ardent supporters' insist), and want real Democratic policies, and going about getting them your way (protecting Obama, reelecting DLC Democrats) is getting Republican policies, NOT Democratic policies, when do you realize that maybe you don't know what you're talking about?

When do you realize that you've become that classic definition for 'insan!ty' ("Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results")?

Do you ever realize it?

Obama Faces Trouble With Key Voters Ahead Of 2012: Poll

Running, as Democrats, politicians who are for all intents and purposes Republicans doesn't make a whole lot of sense.  Not if what you say you want and what you believe in are Democratic policies and legislation.  What you get are elected officials who are more than willing to sell out their base groups's interests.  Women's and the pro-choice movement's interests (and by extension, the economics of 'women's'-issues, 'families'-issues, and the poor and middle classes') have been especially sold out by Democratic politicians, and Obama's been particularly 'oily' (slippery) on these issues. So much so that even his most staunch defenders can't agree on whether Obama's a centrist or a liberal.  [Psssst, the debate is over: "Privately, Obama describes himself as a BlueDog Democrat", i.e., he might as well re-register as a Republican.]

One example of how Democrats and Obama are real free and easy "compromising away" a base group's interests is Democrats' healthcare legislation which opens the door to ending insurance coverage of all abortions).  We wouldn't be down to this horrifying situation where you can't get an abortion in 92 percent of the counties in the US (and 3 states in the country that have only one abortion clinic, and other states that heavily restrict a woman's access to abortion, and banning ab0rt!ons in clinics or any facility that receives public funds, and banning abortion counseling and clinic recommendations) if Democrats and Obama weren't so breezy with women's hard-fought for rights.

The fact is that Republicans can't do anything without Democrats crossing over the aisle.  Faux Democrats are the problem.  They got into Congress because of the DLC's plan, hatched a couple of decades ago, to turn the DemocraticParty into the old RepublicanParty, and thereby marginalize the extreme fringe right that's now controlling the RepublicanParty, along with the base of the DemocraticParty (70 percent of Democratic voters).  Then they'd "govern the country for 100 years".

Obama Faces Trouble With Key Voters Ahead Of 2012: Poll

To those like you, who thought that during the 2008 campaign Obama was a moderate or "staunchly conservative" and wasn't trying to deceive anyone, what did you think he meant when you heard him saying during the campaign that people had to stay involved after the election, that they couldn't just vote for him, go away for four years and expect that he would do what they had hoped?

He said that there were powerful interests working against what the people wanted, and if We The People wanted Obama to do our bidding, we would have to MAKE HIM DO IT.

What did you think he was talking about? Did you think he was trying to deceive the liberals and progressives into believing that he was one of them?

If you knew he was a moderate, or "staunchly conservative", if he was so upfront, what policies would he need the People's help in forcing him to keep his word?

Obama got into office by misleading Democratic voters. He ran to the left of Hillary Clinton.  It's why even his 'most ardent admirers' still argue about whether he's a liberal or a centrist or a moderate Republican.  He convinced centrists that he was a centrist.  He convinced liberals he was a liberal posing as a centrist.  [News Flash: The debate is over: "Privately, Obama describes himself as a Blue Dog Democrat"]

Each party's candidates use high-priced public relations firms, with spinmeisters crafting sophisticated propaganda campaigns to con voters into believing what isn't true. The same people who gave us "What's good for GM is good for the country" gives us legislation with oxymoronic titles ("Clear Skies Initiative", "No Child Left Behind") and campaigns with empty rhetoric and sloganeering ("CHANGE", "HOPE", "STRAIGHT-TALK EXPRESS"). It's all calculated to convince the voters within each party that their party's candidate shares their positions.

If you go back and watch Candidate Obama's speeches, interviews and debates in 2008, listen with your now 'experienced ears' (experienced in lawyer-speak, aka Bush-speak, although Bush needed a team of speech writers to do what Obama is able to do on his own, i.e., think on his feet), I think you'll see that Obama spoke carefully and precisely to give people the sense of what they wanted to hear to get their vote.

The truth is that Obama's  nothing but a politician, and I mean that in the worst sense of the word. In the 'used car salesman' sense.  It turns out that doing what's right for transnational corporations is what Obama is about, and trying to sell it as good for Americans is what he does afterwards. He's the epitome of the 1950s Republican, "What's good for GM is good for America."  He did a snow job on everybody.

#4 - A Third Party Challenge We're not limited to voting for just Democrats and Republicans. There are other alternatives besides sitting out the election or voting for Republicans. There are other candidates running as independents, from Green to Libertarian, in just about every race.

If for no other reason than to get the 5 percent that is necessary for getting a seat at the table, I think that may be enough for great numbers of Democratic voters this time around.

Let it all come crashing down--but let's make sure to kill SocialSecurity and Medicaid/Medicare. These Tea Partiers should be allowed to pay what the market will bear, right?

By the way, while our Tea-Party/Real Men (or whatever those guys who wouldn't pay taxes a few years ago are called) friends talk about how they'd like to keep more of their hard earned money and give less to the idiots who "gave us Vietnam and Iraq," perhaps they'd like to pick up the bill for the grading and paving of the road that leads from their home to their office -- Can't be what, more than $60K a year.

While they're at it, maybe they'd like to cut a check for the police and fire people they'd have to employ to protect their home and valuables from damage. Saturday, August 27, 2011

I'm a liberal and not an Obama fan (he's not a liberal), but this disinformation campaign has got to end.

To begin with, if it was true that "the ONLY thing Obama had ever done in his life was to have been a community organizer", it would stand Obama in good stead as a politician.  Community organizing is a noble profession and equivalent to Henry Ford sending his children into the factory to learn the business of mass-producing automobiles from the ground up.

But it's not true that that was all Obama had ever done in his life.  Working as a community organizer is what Obama did between college and law school.  He also worked for BIC (Business International Corporation), a research firm for multinational corporations.  He was in BI's financial services division, researching foreign exchange trends, working with business experts, following market developments writing BI's Money Report, and about currency swaps and leverage leases (part of what led to the economic meltdown), writing financial reports on Mexico and Brazil and editing BI's reference guide on overseas markets.

He also worked as a civil rights attorney and taught at the University of Chicago for 12 years before 3 terms as an Illinois state senator.

The problem with Obama isn't a lack of experience.

#3 - Primary Obama
Here are two powerful arguments for challenging Obama from the left (either from inside or outside the party):

Michael Lerner's very powerful case for primarying Obama.

Ralph Nader's very powerful case for primarying Obama (and no, he's not running again).

Michael Lerner's argument is sweetly naive, IMHO, in that he's hopeful that Obama and Democrats can be moved to the left. I don't think that's true anymore. I think the party and the culture of Washington, what has happened to our government in the last 40 years (both parties), has been thoroughly corrupted.

Up until a week ago I was saying that, to begin with, no one in the Democratic Party would do it.  Due to the hierarchical system of party government, it would be su!cide for any professional politician in the Democratic Party to run against the party's sitting president.

Liberals/progressives within the Democratic Party, no matter what their rhetoric, no matter what they say, they march to Obama's/Reid's/Pelosi's tune.  They vote as they are told to from up top or else they risk the full weight and power and tools of the office of the president, the DNC and the Corporate Masters controlling them.  The Party will cover them as best it can, get as many votes as it needs from Democrats in safe districts first, and will only call upon liberals/progressives to betray their constituents from safe districts if it needs them, accompanied by threats/promises of national party help when it comes time for their reelection bid (Alan Grayson, Dennis Kucinich, 2 examples).

The DLC has gotten too powerful, what with a Democrat in the White House and a Democratically-controlled Senate overseeing an NSA with today's eavesdropping abilities (I say that somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but it's really impossible to deny in light of things like this).

As I said, that was up until last week. Word has it that a challenge is coming, but it's really not a serious one, not intended for anyone to get the nomination from Obama.

So unless Obama drops out (in which case another corporate tool will take his place), the only legitimate challenges to him will come from outside the Democratic Party (Republicans or Independents).  And the most likely way that Obama would drop out is if his numbers plummet.

So what's left?

We need an FDR, not a Hoover representing Democrats and the nation in the White House. It's clear Obama is not the person we thought we elected. There are millions of people like us, deeply disappointed in him and looking for any reasonable alternate in 2012.

==================================================

I get this question regularly so bear with me for a moment as I explain the situation as I see it, the options available, possible solutions, etc.

#1 - Sitting Out The Election
I never advise people to sit out elections because the first rule of politics is, "If you're not at the table, you're on the menu". It's what p!sses me off about Obama (and one of many reasons I know him to be a con man betraying "them that brung 'im") because by shutting out liberals, the Democratic base, from his administration, by taking single payer, a public option, off the table, by putting Social Security and Medicare on the table, by eliminating regulatory oversight from finance reform legislations, he's given pro-corporate, Republican-like policies an inside line. The People's advocates can't even get in the door of this government much less a seat at the table.

#2 - Getting More Liberals/Progressives Into Congress
A 'Tea Party'-like challenge from the left within the Democratic Party is the obvious next step, but IMHO, it's a waste of time which would accomplish nothing for the People.  Obama and the DNC have been working their butts off to prevent real Democrats, real progressives, from getting into office - Their strategy for getting more Democrats into office has been to run Democratic candidates who believe in Republican ideology and support Republican policies and legislation.

Obama Faces Trouble With Key Voters Ahead Of 2012: Poll

The old LOTE argument.

Despite the fact that Obama's continuing just about all of the BushCheney policies, even going BushCo one better:  How do any of Obama's 'most ardent supporters' explain Obama's doctrine that presidents have the right to k!ll American citizens with no due process, no oversight, and his push for 'indefinite preventive detention' and no transparency of anything a president asserts should be his secret?   Pure Kafka.

As a Democrat, I don't know how any Democrat can get behind this.

At this point, I would argue that Obama and Democrats are worse.  Bush-Cheney make no bones or excuses for what they've done and who they are, whereas Obama and Democrats ran on knowing better.

Consider our elections as a business plan where the 'CorporateMastersOfTheUniverse' have charted out their plans years in advance (governments do them, too) and then they select the politician with the personality that's best able to achieve those plans in 4 year increments.

If you want to l!e the country into war for oil and war-profiteering, then GeorgeWBush is your man to front it, with DickCheney, the former Secretary of Defense who initiated the privatizing of the military a decade earlier, actually running the operation from the shadows.

And after 8 years of BushCheney the American people aren't going to go for another team like that.  They're going to want HOPE & CHANGE, with a persona they can believe in & trust.  BarackObama.

Obama's 'most ardent admirers' just like the packaging better.  I'm not talking skin color, although that may be a factor for some of them; I'm talking about how a 'D' after the name is a brand they trust believe and trust in, despite the fact that it's the same 'soap' (product).

You continue to support Obama and Democrats at the expense of your own best interests. As long as his numbers remain high, he does the bidding of corporations and establishment elites.

Why should Obama & Democrats do anything for you if they know they've got you over a barrel, that you're going to vote for them no matter what, because you're terrified of Republicans?
