Dick Cheney's NBC Interview: Addresses Obama, Palin 'Target Map,' Arizona Shootings, And More

JAMIE GANGEL:  You said that you thought that President Obama was going to be a one term President. Do you still?

DICK CHENEY:  I do, because I think he embarked upon a course of action when he became President that did not have as much support as he thought it did. That once he got into the business, for example, of the healthcare reform....

===================================================

This is a fantastic example of post-Lee Atwater modern politicians' Frank Luntzian word games and revisionist history.

Had Obama done healthcare reform as Democratic voters wanted and expected (single payer, a public option, etc.) and not as a corporate welfare program (a massive giveaway of taxpayer dollars to the insurance and pharmaceutical industries) that does NOT provide affordable quality medical treatment to everybody, and instead had Obama led the Democratically-controlled Congress to implement new FDR-like New Deal programs to save America's middle class and restore what's been stolen from the poor and middle classes by Republicans and the DLC for the past 30 years, Obama could have gotten the 22nd amendment to the Constitution repealed.  Obama could have served in the Oval Office until one of his daughters was old enough to become the nation's first female president.

Obama may be a two-term president, but it will only be because of voters'  i g n o r a n c e  and  f e a r   and failure to get rid of the tag-teaming relay gamers (both political parties) which work in concert with each other to guarantee the corporate control of the US government.

Health Care Poll Finds Decreased Republican Support For Full Repeal

I am one of the left, and what this tells me is that H P is as tabloid as Fox and the Enquirer, although even the Enquirer doesn't c e n s 0 r  like this place does.  Or at least I don't think the Enquirer does as I'm a rare reader of the Enquirer.

Gabrielle Giffords Smiled In Hospital, Husband Says (LATEST UPDATES)

Arizona law states that if a public officeholder ceases to "discharge the duties of office for the period of three consecutive months," the office shall be deemed vacant - at such time a special election could be called to fill the vacancy.

An informal adviser to Brewer said it was "unimaginable" that the governor would call for a special election to fill Giffords's 8th District seat if it is legally deemed vacant after 90 days. He said the most likely course of action would be calling for a special session of the state legislature to amend the law in such a way as to allow Giffords a longer period for recovery.

"This is a statutory provision that was written without vision of a case such as this and could lead to injustice," said the adviser, Jay Heiler, a former assistant attorney general and chief of staff to former Republican governor Fife Symington.

Although the legislature is controlled by a Republican super-majority in both chambers, there are no indications that lawmakers would pursue any action that would deny Giffords her seat.

Jared Loughner's Violent Descent Came After Chaotic Night

By all reports and evidence, he hadn't been a pot smoker for at least three years.

If L0ughner is sch!z0phrenic or has a dissociative disorder, smoking pot wouldn't have helped his disordered thinking, but it's unlikely he would have or could have committed the sh00tings under the influence of pot.  Or even tobacco smoking.  Sch!zophrenics smoke cigarettes at greater than average rates, allegedly due to its calming effects.

Chuck Schumer: The Numbers Aren't There For Major Gun Control Legislation

I think you are absolutely correct, and you've described perfectly what I've been struggling to explain for a while now.  Thank you.

IMHO, your reframe is the 'positive' and 'proactive' perspective that Obama's most ardent supporters have been complaining that Democratic base criticizing Obama lack (and thus should themselves adopt).

Very nicely done.

Obama on Civility and Lincoln on the Rule of Law

"I do believe there are some truly dedicated public servants, though, in the Democratic party, and I include Obama."
=================================================

You may include him, but he's not what you think he is; that's not a matter of opinion, but fact.

Democrats' lack of a cogent narrative is planned, and it's that lack that's the 'negative space'.

Democrats and Republicans are not each others' e.n.e.m!es, not as you believe them to be, and not as they have voters believing them to be.  Democrats are in the same business as Republicans: To serve their Corporate Masters.  Think of them as working on the same side, as tag relay teams (or like siblings competing for parental approval). 'Good cop/bad cop'. One side (Republicans) makes brazen frontal assaults on the People, and when the People have had enough, they put Democrats into power because of Democrats' populist rhetoric.

Once in power, Democrats consolidate Republicans' gains from previous years, and continue on with Republican policies but renamed, with new advertising campaigns. They throw the People a few bones, but once Democrats leave office, we learn that those bones really weren't what We, the People thought they were.

Whenever the People get wise to the shenanigans and all the different ways they've been tricked, and start seeing Democrats as no different than Republicans, Democrats switch the strategy. They invent new reasons for failing to achieve the People's business.

Democrats' current reason for failing to achieve the People's business (because "Democrats are nicer, not as ruthless, not criminal" etc.) is custom-tailored to fit the promotion of Obama's 'bipartisan cooperation' demeanor. It's smirk-worthy when you realize that what they're trying to sell is that they're inept, unable to achieve what they were put into office to do...And their ineptitude, like that's somehow "a good thing".

Obama's 'job', as he sees it, is to deliver to the top 2%.  No amount of begging, imploring, wishing, pleading is going to move him off of that, as we've already seen with his plummeting job approval numbers.

Look at who he surrounded himself with once he got into the WhiteHouse.  Not one liberal.  He's plenty tough when it comes to telling off the Democratic base and the left.  And when members of his administration are leaving (Rahm Emanuel, Robert Gibbs, Lawrence Summers, etc.), he replaces them with more of the same.  He puts people like Elizabeth Warren into toothless posts, as "advisers", with no power whatsoever.

Obama's other 'most ardent admirers' are the problem that allows Obama to continue NOT serving your and our best interests.  Your belief in him, and not in your own "Iy!ng eyes".  Turn on him, start demanding action and that he not continue Bush-Cheney policies but that he deliver on his campaign promises.
