What makes you think Democrats are going to protect Medicare? Obama, Biden, Democrats in both Houses of Congress, Bill Clinton, have put Medicare on the table. Don't ASSume things of Democrats they have no intention of doing. It's bad enough that President Obama has broken just about every pledge he made as Candidate Obama. He's continuing just about all of the BushCheney policies and his legislatio­n, from healthcare to extending tax cuts for the rich and the Patriot Act is pure Republican­. At least require promises and make Obama and Democrats spell out in detail what they intend to do if returned to office.

Obama's already committed to his Cat Food Commission­'s recommenda­tions. That's as draconian as Ryan's plan. What Obama and Democrats are silent on is promising Medicare For All if Democrats take back control of the House in 2012. What say you all to that? How about some firm promises? They're not worth the breath spent to make them, but wouldn't you like to hear some populist rhetoric about now?

Who's going to blink when it comes to raising the debt ceiling? Obama/Demo­crats or Republican­s? The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. My money is on Obama/Demo­crats. Obama will trade away Medicare in order to get Republican­s to agree to raise the debt ceiling. That's how it will be framed for us. That Obama will have "saved the nation from the collapse of not having the debt ceiling raised" by making a deal with Republican­s on Medicare.
