Newt Gingrich's Daughter, Jackie Gingrich Cushman, Talks 'Terrible Things' In Family's Past

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

Notice that it's not Newt's former wife, Jackie's mother, saying this.  The original story came from the mother, not the daughter.

Obama To Boehner: Pass The Senate Payroll Tax Cut Now

I've never voted for a Republican in my many decades of political activism, unlike you who votes for them each election no matter what initial is after their names on the ballot.

Now speak to the issue, BullLoney, and tell these people the truth, that you're a paid political operative, and that you support the DLC's and Republicans' operation to end Social Security and Medicare by draining the fund through payroll tax 'holidays'.

Why I Don't Believe Obama Anymore

I remember following Obama on the campaign trail and hearing all sorts of promises before union-heavy crowds. He said he would raise the minimum wage every year; he said he would fight free-trade agreements. He also talked about repealing the Bush tax cuts and ending tax breaks for companies that move jobs overseas.

It's not just that he hasn't done those things. The more important thing is that the people he's surrounded himself with are not labor people, but stooges from Wall Street. Barack Obama has as his chief of staff a former top-ranking executive from one of the most grossly corrupt mega-companies on earth, JP Morgan Chase. He sees Bill Daley in his own office every day, yet when it comes time to talk abut labor issues, he has to go out and make selected visits twice a year or whatever to the Richard Trumkas of the world.

Listening to Obama talk about jobs and shared prosperity yesterday reminded me that we are back in campaign mode and Barack Obama has started doing again what he does best – play the part of a progressive. He's good at it. It sounds like he has a natural affinity for union workers and ordinary people when he makes these speeches. But his policies are crafted by representatives of corporate/financial America, who happen to entirely make up his inner circle.

I just don't believe this guy anymore, and it's become almost painful to listen to him.

Obama To Boehner: Pass The Senate Payroll Tax Cut Now

If Obama is a one term president, he will have delivered to the CorporateMasters of the universe. He'll hand the baton off to Republicans for the fleecing to continue and go on to reap the benefits from his treacherous betrayal of the People, i.e., the same sort of corporate payoffs that presidents since Gerald Ford have enjoyed.

Over the course of US history, corporations have managed to game our political system, and done it so effectively that the two-party system competes to serve corporate interests while defending that service as, "What's good for GM (corporations) is good for America (the People)".

Democrats (controlled by the DLC, and that's important to remember) and Republicans are corporate tools. Like siblings competing for the attention and approval (campaign contributions) of a parent, Republicans and DLC-controlled Democrats try to outdo each other in delivering for their real constituent, BigCorporations. The trick for them has been to make it seem as if they were really working on behalf of thePeople.

If you must continue to delude yourself into thinking Obama's a good guy who never would have started those wars, and who has only the best of intentions but got a bad deal (I don't share that opinion anymore), then think of all this as a business plan where the CorporateMasters of the Universe have charted out their plans years in advance (governments do them, too) and select the politician/personality best able to achieve those plans in 4 year increments. If you want to l!e the country into war for oil and war-profiteering, then GeorgeWBush is your man to front it (with DickCheney, the former Secretary of Defense who initiated the privatizing of the military a decade earlier, actually running the operation from the shadows).

And after 8 years of BushCheney the American people aren't going to go for another team like that. They're going to want HOPE and CHANGE, with a persona they can believe in and trust. BarackObama.

The truth is that Obama is no better than BushCheney. Not better, not worse, but the same. His 'most ardent admirers' just like the packaging better. I'm not talking skin color, although that may be a factor for some of them; I'm talking about how a 'D' after the name is a brand they trust believe and trust in, despite the fact that it's the same 'soap' (product).

Unless and until there is drastic and uncompromising change to our campaign financing system, until corporations are no longer 'persons' and are prohibited from participating in elections and politics, all efforts to reform government are useless. But that is NOT going to happen under Obama or the DLC-controlled Democratic Party as we'd hoped when we put them in power in 2008; it's not even on their 'To Do' list.

Let's personalize this, shankapotomus:  Are your parents and grandparents receiving Social Security and Medicare benefits?  Do they share your opinion on FDR and LBJ?  If they do, are your parents and grandparents like you, i.e., "educated beyond your intelligence"?

From your misspellings and atrocious grammar, I'm guessing that you're young, one of the text-generation, poorly educated and incapable of thinking beyond one screen at a time.  You haven't considered what the loss of Social Security and Medicare will do to your parents and grandparents and YOU.  You don't understand how the responsibility for supporting them all will fall to the youngest, most physically able in the family -- YOU.

I guess you slept through the 2000 campaign when Bush ran as a “compassionate conservative”, which was to appeal to moderates who weren't inclined to support a Christian conservative.  The term also kept his appeal to a large bloc of conservative voters, who were thrilled he'd found a way to soften their image in mainstream politics, especially with Bush's establishment of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.

Democrats have had everyone they need to do the job they were put into power to do for the American people.

During the Bush years, Democrats said if the People wanted change, they had to put Democrats in the majority in Congress. So in 2006, we did.

Nothing changed.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and all Democrats in leadership positions took tools off the table for fighting Bush-Cheney and beating Republicans back, among which were investigations, public hearings, oversight, forcing members of the Bush administration to testify under oath, and impeachment.

They said, "You have to give us more Democrats -- 60 in the Senate".

In 2008, we did.  We gave them 60 for the Democratic Caucus. And we gave them the White House.

Obama came into office with the wind at his back. More people voted for him, a black man in good old raclst America, than ever voted for any other presidential candidate in the history of the US. They did it because of his ability to persuade that he was going to change the system, end the corporatocracy, lobbyism in government -- He was going to be the People's president, not a corporate t00I.

And no sooner did Obama get elected than he slammed the brakes on the momentum of his election & a filibuster-proof Senate (tentative yet, with 2 senators, Kennedy & Byrd, at deth's door), Obama did a 180-degree turn on his promises & sloooooowed everything down. To "work in a bipartisan manner with Republicans", after Republicans had already announced they were going to block everything Democrats wanted to do, vote no on everything, in lockstep.

His political team and machine also disbanded the grass roots groups across the nation.  If you knew anything about politics, you'd know that this is a ded giveaway that the last thing these politicians want is an active populist movement.

Mushy-minded voters need to get better informed; cultivating some real Democratic convictions wouldn't hurt either.  Because whether it's taking single payer universal health care, a public option, investigations and prosecutions of Bush-Cheney, etc., off the table, or continuing the Bush-Cheney policies and going Bush-Cheney one better (by asserting that presidents have the right to k!ll American citizens with no due process, no oversight, and 'indefinite preventive detention', the right to imprison anyone indefinitely because he thinks they might commit a crime), or using Joe Lieberman to hide behind, to duck out on his campaign pledge of transparency, and gut the FOIA,no real Democrat could continue to support Obama or any politicians purporting to be Democrats doing this.

Obama To Boehner: Pass The Senate Payroll Tax Cut Now

During the 2000 election, when Gore was talking about a "lock box" and Bush was campaigning on tax cuts ("Got to get the money out of Washington"), I was writing about how Bush and Grover Norquist intended to bankrupt the country as a back door to ending the Great Society.

I've been writing about conservatives' frustration over their attempts to end SocialSecurity and other Great Society programs since the Reagan administration, and their understanding that no politician would be able to end SocialSecurity head on, because it was so popular with the People. The way they would do it would be to get the nation into so much debt, into bankruptcy, that there would be no money left in SocialSecurity, and that's how they would killl it.

When GeorgeWBush got into the WhiteHouse after the contentious 2000 election (when Republicans stole the election), when Bush rammed those tax cuts through, no Democrats talked about "what about if we need that money for a rainy day?" Or "should we find ourselves in a war".   Or for shoring up the nation's crumbling infrastructure, i.e., the roads, highways, bridges, dams, railways, etc., etc., etc.

Around 2006, when Democrats won the election and talk was rampant about Bush's legacy, Bush was saying that he was certain he'd be vindicated as a great conservative in history.

Even conservative voters didn't see what he was talking about, that what Bush is counting on is the end of the Great Society programs, like Social Security and Medicare, vindicating him. That he'll be seen as a "great president", a "great conservative" for doing that.

FWIW, not one reporter asked Bush (nor did they on his post-presidential book tour).  Democratic politicians knew this, by the way, and they let it happen.

Obama To Boehner: Pass The Senate Payroll Tax Cut Now

Obama's been dodging and weaving and caving, kicking the can down the road, and delivering on what Bush and Norquist and conservatives were up to: Ending the New Deal and Great Society programs the only way you can when the People overwhelmingly want them and won't agree to the frontal assaults on them for 30 years -- By bankrupting the nation.

Obama's just the next chapter in the corporatization of the US government.  Obama's in the Oval Office to mellow-talk us into accepting that which we'd never stand still for if we had contentious, fire-in-the-belly real Democratic leaders actually fighting on our behalf. Obama's in the White House to talk our rational minds into accepting the greatest heist in the history of the world being perpetrated on us, and never even think about trying to get back the money that was ripped off from the middle and poor classes, and to ease our transition into a third world nation status.

Obama is the grifter leading off the second half of the con game, which is to squeeze the rest of the dimes from the poor and middle classes. It began in earnest (and on steroids) with part 2 of Bush's Medicare Reform Act of 2003 (high-priced junk health insurance that has no cost controls), and has continued with Obama's healthcare legislation (massive giveaway to the insurance and pharmaceutical industries), more NAFTA-like treaties (outsourcing more Americans' jobs) and Obama's Deficit Commission and then his 'Super Congress' and now a replay of last year's extension of Bush's tax cuts for the rich.

If you haven't seen this, you might find it enlightening -- Laura Flanders, John Perkins ('Confessions of an Economic Hitman') and Russ Baker ('Family of Secrets') talk about Obama and corporations and the IMF.

Yes, Republicans are scvm, but Democrats really aren't any better.

People need to learn to listen closely to what Obama (and all politicians) is actually saying.  It's akin to Bush-speak, aka lawyer-speak, only Obama doesn't need a team of speechwriters to put the words in his mouth.  Obama can do it in his sleep.

Obama is not actually saying what people think he means.  For example, when Obama says, "If we don't act, taxes will go up for every single American, starting next year. And I'm not about to let that happen," why do you infer he's not talking about the rich's taxes?

The proof is in his actions, and for the past 3 years, when he's had the opportunity, he's sold out the poor and middle classes.

Payroll tax holidays are the path to ending Social Security and Medicare.  Payroll taxes are where Social Security and Medicare benefits come from.

Obama's pushing payroll tax holidays is just continuing Bush's and Grover Norquist's game plan for ending the New Deal programs:  By bankrupting them.

Here's your link.

And Charles Blahous, who currently serves as one of the two public trustees for the Social Security and Medicare Programs, says:

“Social Security was not established to be a source of ‘temporary’ stimulus funds. The idea that its payroll tax rate should be moved up and down with economic events is highly dangerous to the program’s financial future.

"If Congress continues to cut the program’s funding source, one of two things must happen: 1) Social Security’s insolvency will be accelerated; or 2) Social Security will have to increasingly rely on general revenues (i.e., income taxes) to pay beneficiaries.”
