Obama (nor RahmEmanuel) has NEVER gone after the Republican leadership in Congress -- Not McConnell, not Boehner, not Cantor, nor any other Republican politician. He's trying to recruit them into the DemocraticParty.



Last year, Obama disappeared from the healthcare debate as the Tea Party grew & bullied at Town Halls. The Tea Party has always been a myth, & a myth that Obama & Rahm Emanuel have helped to create. In all of the US, there are 600 registered members of the Tea Party.



What Obama's doing is a variation of the old Bush-R0ve 'fear' tactic. Only instead of terr0rists with kn!ves between their teeth climbing over border walls between Mexico & Arizona/Texas/California, it's gvn-toting John Birchers at Town Hall meetings.



All of last summer, as they brought gvns to the Town Halls, & members of Congress were canceling Town Halls, did Obama take charge, send out federal marshals to protect the democratic process? Did Obama hit the air waves, saying, "There will be gathering in the public square to do what we do in America: Debate and discuss the issues facing us!"?



No.

Yes, Obama and the DLC are courting Republican politicians and their supporters.



I (and others) have been writing about the DLC and its plan to move the Democratic Party to the right for about 20 of them. What we're talking about is not a great secret; The DLC has said it itself, that it wants to move the Democratic Party to the right in order to be able to govern "from the center, for 100 years". You might want to expand your research to studying the DLC, its history, members, and plans for the future.



I'm also not the only one who has written about Obama & RahmEmanuel trying to make Limbaugh & Palin the face of the Republican Party instead of the actual elected Republican politicians who are running the RepublicanParty, although I may have been among the first, if not the first. I am an old liberal Democrat who, if polled as to what I believe Obama is, would say that I don't know what Obama is. I suspect he's an atheist (as am I), but what I do know is that he's an opportunist who does just what he needs to do and no more to advance his own personal objectives and fortunes.



Obama brought this controversy on himself. It never would have gotten any traction had he been doing what he had been doing in the years leading up to his run for the presidency, which was belonging to a Christian church and attending it somewhat regularly. Once it had served its purpose (getting him into the White House), he had no further need for it.



That's a readily visible pattern with Obama. The closer he got to the nomination and then the White House itself, the more liberal rhetoric he dropped. And once in the OvalOffice, he's broken most of his promises, done a 180-degree turn on policy, & totally shut the door to liberals & progressives, courting instead the right-of-center Independents and Republicans.



If anyone seriously believes that Obama is an observant Christian & believes the White House's argument that the proof is that he gets texted with Biblical passages daily, it begs the question, "What about his family? His wife and children?" What couple proclaiming to be Christian raising young children don't attend church regularly and have those children involved in church activities?

St.Andrews Bay/AlligatorPoint is well known to be “cleaner” than the GulfOfMexico due to its physical barriers, fresher water inlets, & the fact that they’ve got a lot of environmental protection, unlike the GulfOfMexico. The specific area where Obama and his daughter swam has been protected since 1972 & is called the St. AndrewsAquaticPreserve.



Relatively clear water is one of the characteristic features of St. AndrewsAquaticPreserve, which is due to several factors: Its spring-fed tributaries, rivers empty into it, the water table is high, as well as low amounts of silty clay in the local soils & the filtering effect of the marshes &seagrasses.

How ethical is this?



The photo the other day of Obama & his daughter swimming "in the Gulf of Mexico" so that people would travel to the Gulf states to spend their vacation dollars there. Only it wasn't the Gulf of Mexico. But he had no problem lying through his teeth with that charade, assuring People that they shouldn't have any concerns about swimming in the waters of the Gulf coast states ("Look, I'm even putting my own kid in the Gulf water -- How dangerous could it be?"). It showed he has no problem Iying through his teeth to the American people, on matters of our lives, our health, and our de@th. The man's a double-talk con artist, urging people to swim in the water, eat the seafood without adequate testing!



Obama's handling of everything, not just the blowout in the Gulf, has been scandalous. Not only a continuation of Bush-Cheney policies, but he's gone Bush-Cheney even better.

This is what comes of slashing public education monies and trying to privatize schools.



The Corporatocracy requires an ig.nor.ant citizenry in order to control it. Corporations have gamed our political system so effectively that the two-party system competes to serve corporate interests which Corporations defend as, "What's good for GM (corporations) is good for America (We the People)". Both parties, both the DLC Democrats who control the Democratic Party and Republicans, are corporate t00Is.



At the top of Big Businesses' shopping lists to Democrats & Republicans is "Give us more money. And if you can't do that, if you can't fool the average American voter into going along with that, then let us be able to rake it in as we've been doing."



That's what Obama's "Healthcare Reform" legislation was all about. Republicans had their turn at delivering to Big Insurance & PhRma in 2003 with the Medicare Reform Act. After that, corporations shifted their donations to the Democrats.



When politicians have had the chance to reform campaign financing (all publicly financed) and elections, they've refused and made it more 'exclusive' (harder for third party/independent challengers), controlled by corporate media and accessible by only those with huge bankrolls.

In Warrantless Wiretapping Case, Obama DOJ's New Arguments Are Worse Than Bush's



Friday evening, in a motion to dismiss Jewel v. NSA, EFF's litigation against the National Security Agency for the warrantless wiretapping of countless Americans, the Obama Administration made two deeply troubling arguments.



First, they argued, exactly as the Bush Administration did on countless occasions, that the state secrets privilege requires the court to dismiss the issue out of hand. They argue that simply allowing the case to continue "would cause exceptionally grave harm to national security." As in the past, this is a blatant ploy to dismiss the litigation without allowing the courts to consider the evidence.



It's an especially disappointing argument to hear from the Obama Administration. As a candidate, Senator Obama lamented that the Bush Administration "invoked a legal tool known as the 'state secrets' privilege more than any other previous administration to get cases thrown out of civil court." He was right then, and we're dismayed that he and his team seem to have forgotten.



Sad as that is, it's the DoJ's second argument that is the most pernicious. The DOJ claims that the U.S. Government is completely immune from litigation for illegal spying — that the Government can never be sued for surveillance that violates federal privacy statutes.

But last Friday, his Justice Department filed a motion in a warrantless wiretapping lawsuit, brought by the digital-rights group EFF.
