The only reason that we don't have a strong healthcare bill is Obama. And we won't have any kind of real healthcare reform until he's out of office.

The week before & the week after the healthcare bill (or, more accurately, 'The Insurance & Pharmaceutical Industries Windfall Act') passed in the Senate was the one & only time a public option had any chance of happening until another generation passes.

A group of senators had mobilized behind it since the bill had to be passed through reconciliation anyway, & there was no way that Democrats weren't going to get enough of its members to vote against it just because it had a PublicOption in it.

Obama nixxed it.

The excuse was that if the Senate did that, the bill would have to go back to the House for a vote & "There's no time!"

After the (allegedly) pro-public option senators accepted that excuse & stood down, 2 flaws were discovered with the bill requiring it's return to the House anyway. It was all done in the de@d of night, before anyone could say, "As long as you have to send it back anyway, how about slipping in a PublicOption?"

Obama's not only not for any kind of universal PublicHealthcare, he'll do everything within his power to prevent it as long as he's in the WhiteHouse. Because that was the deal that he made.

This is the latest version of the H!tler game.

You know how when someone mentions H!tler on a thread, then that's the end of the conversation, no more posting?

This is the variation: When Obamab0ts run out of answers, when they can't come up with any more excuses for Obama's DINOness, they play the Democrats' fear-card ("You think McCain/Palin would have been better?").

You're really not comprehending that they're really all the same.

Let's even say that McCain dropped de@d in office and Palin took over. She's no ideologue. She's in it for the money and the power. She's already being handled and run by the same people behind Bush-Cheney, and the same people that have Obama keeping Bush's appointees, looking to cut social security to keep wars for oil profits for the rich going.

There are additional nefarious rules that prevent 'forcing an actual filibuster'.

There are all sorts of rules for everything, but it doesn't change the fact that when Democrats want something, they force Republicans to filibuster.

When Democrats don't want something that their supporters want, they make up the most amazing excuses to try to convince their supporters that "We really would like to do that, but our hands are tied by rules." The latest l!e has been that rule 22 can only be changed at the beginning of a new Congress. It's really outrageous the BS they tell constituents. It can be done at any time (see page 6 - http://fpc.state.gov/documents/organization/45448.pdf ).

Their hands are NOT tied. And Harry Reid needs to force Republicans to actually filibuster.

You can waste your time with online petitions -- Not ONE online petition has moved Obama or Democrats in Congress to do anything.

All that online petitions are are busywork, to stall, to put the People off, and make People think that they are doing something to change things.

Besides, as far as ending filibusters, come November when Republicans take control of one or both Houses of Congress, Obama and the DLC-controlled Democratic Party will tell supporters, "Aren't you glad we didn't end the filibuster?"

Obama is a fraud, and the DLC is corrupt.

Reconciliation can only be used once a term, and only for budget matters. Your statement about that is wrong.

No, you're wrong.

It's bad enough that Republican supporters watch/read/believe Fox and conservative websites, but it's worse when Democratic supporters quote them.

They presumed that since a budget is an annual event, then it must only be something that can be done once per term.

Reconciliation can be used as often as is deemed necessary on anything relating to or having an effect on the budget.

Just about any one of them has kept more campaign promises than Obama.

What's striking about Obama's broken promises is how swiftly after he was declared the winner in the 2008 election he slammed on the brakes on the momentum of his win, did a 180-degree turn on just about every issue, and then signed on to Bush policies.

It really was punch-in-the-gut breathtaking.

Yes, I'm so sure that repubs would wilt under a filibuster.

They would stop at nothing - lying, cheating - taking advantage of homeless people.

Making them filibuster would not stop these mor0ns from continuing their war on the US.

When it's something that Democrats really want, they play hardball.

The proof, dearie, is in the pudding.

Are you really only interested in politics like a sporting event, to root for your favorite team, and not know anything about the policies, the legislation? Do you not know how to read legislation? Do you think if legislation has a punchy title, says "reform" in it, that it's 'good (for you)' reform?

Do you not keep up with the news?

Do you think that Obama is investigating Bush and Cheney, in spite of his statements that "It's time to move on", but is doing it secretly? What's your evidence for that?

Makes you wonder why Obama and Rahm Emanuel didn't go after Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Feith, Wolfowitz, Yoo, Bybee, et al, or anyone in the Republican leadership or in Congress, but instead went after Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin (two people with no official role in the Republican Party).

The GOP was on the mat and de@d after the 2008 election, but Obama and Emanuel have let them rise again.

Does anybody really believe that Rahm Emanuel is a "nice polite guy"?

Most of Obama's "most ardent supporters" posting at HP are paid operatives.

Real Democrats had Bush, Cheney and the Republican Party on the ropes in 2008. Obama, flip-flopping on just about all of his campaign promises and then continuing Bush's policies, NOT investigating and prosecuting Bush and Cheney, et al, (and then not attacking Republican leadership and Republicans in office, but going after Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin) actually let Republicans get up off the mat and come back to this point where they're likely going to take back control of Congress.

It's tragic that Obamab0ts defend him.

They do it because they're NOT real Democrats, but corporatists themselves. They're DINOs.

Obama's hardly that.

Democratic voters have mistakenly believed that Obama&Democrats want what they, their supporters, want. The DLC-controlled DemocraticParty gives lip service to all populist issues (like civil rights protections, restoring habeas corpus, ending the wars, PublicHealthcare, Wall Street reform, environmental & energy issues, etc.).

If the Bush years taught us nothing else, it's that anyone can sell anything to Americans, if you're stolid & relentless in your salespitch & tactics. It's not that Bush&R0ve were geniuses & knew something that nobody else knew; Bush&R0ve were just more ruthless (clumsy & careless many political graybeards would say) in doing what politicians & the parties had gone to great lengths to hide from Americans.

Obama didn't get to be the first black president, vanquish the Clinton machine (to get the nomination) & the oldest, most experienced politicians in our nation's history (including the Rove machine) by not having mastered these skills. Nor do Democratic politicians (more incumbents than ever, in office longer) not know how to do it. How do you think Democrats managed to keep impeaching Bush&Cheney off the table & have us still reelecting them, not marching on Washington with torches&pitchforks?

Obama&Democrats know how to do it -- They don't want to do it.

The trick for them has been to keep the many different populist groups believing that they really do support our issues, but they're merely inept, & to get us to keep voting for them despite their failure to deliver on any of our alleged shared

Obama's and Democrats' compromised instead of fighting 'open throttle' with a robust stimulus and re-regulatory legislation to restore the middle class so that corporate greed could never take down the economy again.

Until Obama and the DLC-controlled Democratic Party investigate and prosecute the Bush Administration, the American people will continue on this road to becoming a third world nation.

We need leadership and a political party that fights for the American people's interests, and not for big business. Conservatives have already declared war on the American people. We need leaders with fire in their bellies, who are willing to take on conservatives, and not compromise with them.

The DLC-controlled Democratic Party isn't it. The DLC is in bed with corporations.

Over the course of US history, corporations have managed to game our political system, and done it so effectively that the two-party system competes to serve corporate interests while defending that service as, "What's good for GM (corporations) is good for America (We the People)".

DLC Democrats who control the Democratic Party and Republicans are corporate t00Is. Like siblings competing for the attention and approval (campaign contributions) of a parent, Republicans and DLC-controlled Democrats try to outdo each other in delivering for their real constituent, Big Corporations. The trick for them has been to make it seem as if they were really working on behalf of We the People.

Democratic voters have mistakenly believed that Obama&Democrats were for strong regulations on banks, Wall Street, investigations, prosecutions, restitution of what has been robbed from the middle class and poor for the past 30+ years, environmental clean-up, clean, sustainable renewable energy (& that isn't nuclear), putting an end to the wars and occupation of Iraq & Afghanistan, affordable, quality universal healthcare (which ObamaCare is not), and more. The DLC-controlled Democratic party gives lip service to these & all populist issues, because like the Republican Party, the DLC works for the benefit of transnational corporations.

Obama is no better than Bush-Cheney.

Unless & until there is drastic and uncompromising change to our campaign financing system, until corporations are no longer 'persons' and are prohibited from participating in elections and politics, all efforts to reform government are useless.

This is hardly a surprise; this is what Republicans do.

The real question is why are Democrats not playing hardball?

Why is Obama negotiating at all with Republicans? Why does he continue to play nice with them? Why does he try to win them over?

He and Democrats have never needed Republicans to pass anything. Harry Reid lets Republicans threaten to filibuster instead of forcing them to actually do it. Filibustering is hard on soft bodies. Democrats could pass whatever they want, too, through reconciliation. They refuse to do it. Democrats could also change the filibuster rule -- They do NOT have to wait until a new Congress convenes.

Obama and Democrats have let Republicans rise from the depths after Bush and Cheney left office. Obama refused, Obama has BLOCKED investigations and prosecutions into the Bush administration while Obama has continued most of Bush's policies.

The only question that remains is why Obama's most ardent followers still support him, someone who refuses to go to bat on populist issues.
