you pretend to be on the far left, but it seems you are on the far right

================================

I am an old FDR liberal Democrat. There is absolutely nothing that I believe or have ever said to contradict that, so if you think that's far left or far right, then that's what you think about FDR.

From my life's experience, my travel around the nation, my work &interaction with Americans from all walks of life, when informed about an issue, most agree with the liberals' perspective. Neither they nor I would characterize themselves as far-anything or extreme, but mainstream. For example, nobody likes the idea of abortion, but most Americans do not want the government involved if they find themselves in the predicament of an unwanted pregnancy.

The only BS you go through with me is when you respond to one of MY comments and then have the gall to bellyache when I reply, disagree and ask you to back up your outlandish declarations with facts and citations.

Gulf Oil Spill Stopped: BP Says Oil Leak Is HALTED (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Do you remember Obama's excuse about why his InteriorDepartment issued exemptions to BP:

"[T]here is a thorough environmental review as to whether a certain portion of the Gulf should be leased or not. . . . .Under current law, the Interior Department has only 30 days to review an exploration plan submitted by an oil company. That leaves no time for the appropriate environmental review. The result is, they're continually waived. And this is just one example of a law that was tailored by the industry to serve their needs instead of the public's."

It turns out not to be true.

http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/06/03/salazar/index.html

Obama announced a moratorium on drilling, after which the MMS official in the Gulf said it applied to shallow water drilling. Salazar said it didn't. The uproar from that confusion caused Obama to say it applied to ALL drilling. It took weeks before learning that Obama l!ed, he never issued any paper on it, and in the end, it was only on deepwater drilling.

The Justice Department should be launching an investigation and Congress and Obama should be controlling BP's every move, but instead only asked BP to release the live feed. BP told the EPA to buzz off, & has continued using Corexit which is only being used to hide the oil.

Obama's been an abject failure, and we give him a pass at our own peril.

Are you seriously doing what Bushies do?

This happened on Obama's watch, just as nine-eleven & the government's failure to respond in Hurricane Katrina happened on Bush's watch.

Obama's had a year and a half to shake out MMS and change regulations within the department, enforce inspections and oversight, and hasn't.

Obama had 18 months to clean up the known corruption & cronyism within MMS. He still hasn't done it. How does dividing it in two end the corruption? MMS is still staffed with oil industry insiders. Cronyism continues.

Obama has issued more permits and leased more parcels for drilling offshore than any other administration, as well as letting BP continue to operate unsafe, uninspected drilling operations in the Gulf & embarking on the riskiest operation yet in the arctic.

After the blowout and Obama allegedly froze the permit process, hundreds of permits have continued being given out. The spokeswoman for MMS insisted that there have been no new permits, then went silent when informed that permits have, indeed, been given out.

Sputtering?

What in that makes you think I'm sputtering?

And another non-denial denial about being a paid operative. Only a paid operative would think being accused of being a paid operative is a compliment. I didn't say you were an effective or bright one. More like the seat-fillers at the Oscars, or a collection agency caller working off a script. For minimum wages. Because your talking points are straight off of the DNC's press releases. There's nothing original about them, nor are they responsive to the questions being raised about the legislation.

The old "I know what I am, but what are you" defense, eh?

If I were a paid RNC operative, it would be an interesting argument style on my part: Attacking Democratic policy for being too Republican-like. And criticizing Obama for continuing Bush-Cheney policies, and condemning Obama for not investigating and prosecuting Bush and Cheney.

No, I am not an operative, paid or volunteer, for any party or group. I am an old, old liberal Democrat, as everyone with more than two brain cells to rub together knows.

Kucinich caved, as did every 81 of the 84 members of the Progressive Caucus who pledged not to vote for any healthcare reform bill that didn't include a public option. Kucinich was the last to do so.

The only way that Kucinich would have been f**ced had he kept his word was by Obama.

That's who you're defending. A man who bent to pressure (we know not what he was threatened with, but threatened he was) by a man you also pledged not to sign any legislation that didn't include a public option. A man who signed a corporate welfare bill, a bailout, guaranteed to END all public healthcare programs sooner rather than later. Not any "first step" to expansion, to Medicare For All, to affordable quality medical care for all, but a "first step" to only the rich being able to afford quality medical care.

You settle for sand disguised as crumbs, fooling yourself into believing there's a square meal waiting right around the corner, when you could have a FEAST.

Dennis Kucinich has written his own epitaph. He's weak, he's exposed that he's irrelevant, has no power or ability to achieve any of our objectives.

Bernie Sanders has never mounted a national campaign, and his relevancy is, frankly, irrelevant. He has relevancy to Vermonters.

One thing that you can say about Ron Paul and Ralph Nader is that they both have stayed true to their beliefs and message. Neither can be bought. Kucinich has been (bought).

Oh stop already.

The banking industry was Obama's top contributor.

You can't have Obama as the "gen!us" in one breath, and terminally naive in the next.

The lowliest clerk in Washington knows the power centers in Washington. The cab drivers know. The coffee shop waitresses know. So does everybody around the nation.

The Office of Thrift Supervision — but it guarantees that all OTS employees will have jobs at the new bank regulator. How exactly is moving around boxes on the organizational chart going to prevent the next financial crisis? (Ironically, OTS was itself created in the "crackdown" after another Washington-sparked meltdown, the savings-and-loan crisis of the late '80s.)

This is like Obama hiring Liz Fowler, former WellPoint executive, to implement the healthcare law - http://www.huf fingtonpost.com/david-sirota/obama-hires-fmr-wellpoint_b_646874.html

Or Obama's not cleaning house at MMS, not firing all involved in the corruption, but instead spliting MMS into two agencies.

How many times are politicians going to be able to rely on Americans' ig.no.rance of the details in legislation like this? About how bills with populist-sounding titles (Clear Skies Initiative, Leave No Child Behind, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, etc.) are actually oxym0rons intended to deceive voters.

This bill starts the clock ticking for new and even greater heists on Americans, more meltdowns and economic upheaval.

Congratulations, Polanski-Defenders -- Now the Child-Rapist Walks Free!

Wow, the kid was drunk and drugged and somehow she can't keep her story completely straight.

Samantha Geimer's story was inconsistent, changed, after that day (when she was sober) and then later (when she was sober).

Congratulations, Polanski-Defenders -- Now the Child-Rapist Walks Free!

Whether sexually abused as a child or raped at 18 in the same year that this case began, lisaman, you appear to have no ability to distinguish what was done to you & the case in the news. You seem unwilling to accept American jurisprudence, how our system works (& why it's necessary for a healthy, functioning democracy). Unable to argue your point (or even stay on point), you make up information, jump to conclusions that have no foundation in fact. When challenged, you try to manipulate others by injecting emotion into the discussion. You become emotional yourself or project those emotions onto other commenters, e.g., bullying by making erroneous (& irrelevant) assertions, or claiming to be the target of "hate and condescension".

Whether you were a victim of child (sexual) abuse or rape, Roman Polanski didn't do it to you. Whatever happened to Samantha Geimer happened to her and not to you.

By the way, I was NOT a child abuse victim but a victim of rape at 18, in 1977.

=======================================

More irony from lisaman in response to this, what I said:

=="I'm talking about uneducated people overcome by emotion, unable or unwilling to accept American jurisprudence. Invariably these people are victims of child abuse themselves & have no ability to distinguish what was done to them and the case in the news. You, lisaman, appear to be one of those people. When unable to argue your point, you make up information, jump to conclusions that have no foundation in fact, and then try to bully by making erroneous (& irrelevant) assertions."==

Same difference.

I did not accuse you of defending him, I asked if you were.

This is exactly what you said:

=="You are aware that the ONLY reason the prosecutors plea bargained was because this child's mother requested it, right? Are you actually defending him? He drugged and raped a child."==

Let's have a show of hands, please: How many think lisaman was accusing Marcospinelli of defending Polanski?

The irony in lisaman's circuitous logic might be amusing if it wasn't shared by so many posting to these threads. Like-minded lynchmen & women, the uneducated & muddy-minded who agree with lisaman's accusation, that stating the fact that Polanski was not convicted of the "drugging and anal rape of a 13 year old" is defending Polanski (which is apparently outrageous to lisaman because "he drugged and raped a child").

I read somewhere but I don't remember where it was that her mother was who wanted the plea deal in order to insure her daughter's anonymity.

=======================================

That's not what you said. You stated, as if it were a fact, with a link yet to back it up (but your link doesn't back you up):

==You are aware that the ONLY reason the prosecutors plea bargained was because this child's mother requested it, right? Are you actually defending him? He drugged and raped a child. Go to the link and read her testimony, please. She told him no, he knew what he was doing and she was frightened of him.

The Bush Revival: How Jeb, Rove, Gillespie Are Leading The GOP Again

This is the result of Obama's blocking investigations and prosecutions into the Bush-Cheney administration.

This is the result of Obama's "bipartisanship" and his continuation of Bush's policies.

Obama came into the White House with the Republican Party on the ropes. Instead of going after Republicans and finishing them off, instead of laying the responsibility for our economic woes and wars of choice at what was left of the Republican Party in office, Obama & Rahm Emanuel went gunning for Sarah Palin & Rush Limbaugh. Obama & Emanuel made Palin & Limbaugh, two people with no role in the Republican Party, the focus. Obama & Emanuel have NEVER mentioned Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Eric Canter, Karl R0ve, George W, H.W., Jeb Bush, Cheney, NOBODY who is actually IN the Republican Party as the problem.

If you have a problem with "The Bush Revival", it's happened because Obama and the DLC-controlled Democratic Party have allowed it.
