Mitt Romney Dismisses Tax Return Disclosure Calls From Republicans (VIDEO)

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

As a liberal Democrat, I support all candidates for public office disclosing all their records, tax returns, too.

I wonder, however, if those calling for Romney's records also called for the release of Bill Clinton's in 2008 when Hillary was running.  And when she runs in 2016, will you be demanding to see them?

James Carville Advises Obama: Talk About Tax Returns? Sure, But Health Care Above All

When all else fails, Obamabots yell, "The Supreme Court will be lost!"

The Supreme Court is lost already.  Please remember that Scalia and Thomas made it through a Democratically-controlled Judiciary Committee and Senate.  And Democrats voted to confirm Alito (58-42) and Roberts (78-22).

There is nothing that Bush-Cheney, and Reagan-Bush for that matter, did that Democrats couldn't have blocked.  Democrats signed on to all of it.

Obama's appointments are really nothing to defend.  Elena Kagan is the Goldman-Sacks seat, not to mention that she was the 5th vote in rolling back Miranda a few weeks ago.  And she joined the conservatives on the Medicaid portion of ACA two weeks ago.

Sotomayor was with the Scalia-Thomas-Alito faction that boycotted the SOTU - Sotomayor was in Guam, addressing a group of students and swearing in new members of the Guam Bar Association, a first for a US Supreme Court Justice (are you kidding, Sonia, missing the most public showing of US democracy and the 3 branches of government by leaving the US for a 5 day trip to Guam?).

If who gets to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg was such a worry, don't you think she would step down now while it's assured a Democratic president would be choosing?

The only solution turning the nation around is ending corporate personhood and publicly financed campaigns.  Any politician who isn't making that his first and only priority is corrupt to the bone.  Neither party has this on their agenda, much less at the top of their list of things to do.

Pelosi: Bush Impeachment `Off the Table’
By Susan Ferrechio
Published November 8, 2006

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi promised Wednesday that when her party takes over, the new majority will not attempt to remove President Bush from office, despite earlier pledges to the contrary from others in the caucus.

“I have said it before and I will say it again: Impeachment is off the table,” Pelosi, D-Calif., said during a news conference.

Dealing with you id-jits is like shooting fish in a barrel.

James Carville Advises Obama: Talk About Tax Returns? Sure, But Health Care Above All

Reminder to the younger set about James Carville:

Carville undermined John Kerry's potential challenge to the result in Ohio in 2004.

Apparently, Kerry had decided not to concede. There were 250,000 outstanding ballots in Ohio.

So Kerry decided to fight. In fact, he considered going to Ohio to camp out with his voters until there was a recount. This is the last thing the Bush-Cheney White House needed, especially after Florida 2000.

So what happened?

James Carville got on the phone with his wife, Mary Matalin, who was at the White House with Bush.

"Carville told her he had some inside news. The Kerry campaign was going to challenge the provisional ballots in Ohio -- perhaps up to 250,000 of them. 'I don't agree with it, Carville said. I'm just telling you that's what they're talking about.'

"Matalin went to Cheney to report...You better tell the President Cheney told her."

Matalin did, advising Bush that "somebody in authority needed to get in touch with J. Kenneth Blackwell, the Republican Secretary of State in Ohio who would be in charge of any challenge to the provisional votes."

An SOS went out to Blackwell. Considering that Matalin was being floated for RNC Chair (a decision which I am sure Carville supported), maybe everything the Democratic Party is doing will be immediately leaked to the RNC.

Democratic operatives married to Republican operatives - There is no d@mned difference between the parties.

James Carville Advises Obama: Talk About Tax Returns? Sure, But Health Care Above All

In 2006, when Nancy Pelosi took impeachment off the table, what did the public do?

Nothing.

In 2008, when Obama refused to investigate and prosecute BushCo, what did the public do?

Nothing.

We're still there. Gitmo is still open. Obama is still renditioning and torturing, even attacking sovereign nations with no declaration of war or vote by Congress, and killing American citizens with no due process. What's the public doing?

Nothing.

You don't put back into power the people who refuse to live up to their campaign promises, who don't use the power of the bully pulpit, who come up with one lame excuse after another to NOT do what the people wanted. But we do, so what's the message to Obama, Democrats and the military industrial complex?

"The People will complain, but that's all".

James Carville Advises Obama: Talk About Tax Returns? Sure, But Health Care Above All

The past 4 years hasn't been "progress" by any means; it's been a consolidation of past gains by the corporatocracy aims.

Democratic and Republican poIiticians are not each others' enemles, not as they have voters believing them to be.  Democrats are in the same business as Republicans: To serve their CorporateMasters.

Think of Democratic and Republican politicians as working on the same side, as tag relay teams (or like siblings competing for parental approval). 'Good cop/bad cop'. Or like at the annual company picnic, the manufacturing division against the marketing division in a friendly game of softball.  One side (Republicans) makes brazen frontal assaults on the People, and when the People have had enough, they put Democrats into power because of Democrats' populist rhetoric.

Once in power, Democrats consolidate Republicans' gains from previous years, and continue on with Republican policies but renamed, with new advertising campaigns. They throw the People a few bones, but once Democrats leave office, we learn that those bones really weren't what We, the People thought they were.

Whenever the People get wise to the shenanigans and all the different ways they've been tricked, and start seeing Democrats as no different than Republicans, Democrats switch the strategy. They invent new reasons for failing to achieve the People's business.

Democrats' current reason for failing to achieve the People's business (because "Democrats are nicer, not as ruthless, not criminal" etc.) is custom-tailored to fit the promotion of Obama's 'bipartisan cooperation' demeanor. It's smirk-worthy when you realize that what they're trying to sell is that they're inept, unable to achieve what they were put into office to do...And their ineptitude, like that's somehow "a good thing".

Obama's 'job', as he sees it, is to deliver to the top 1percent.  No protesting, rallying, marching, begging, imploring, wishing, pleading with Obama is going to move him off of that.  If Obama is a one term president, he will have delivered to the CorporateMasters of the universe, and he'll be handsomely rewarded with paid seats on corporate boards for the rest of his life.  He'll just hand the baton off to a Republican for the fleecing to continue.

A Big Mistake In Obama's War on Medical Marijuana

Consider our elections as a business plan where the 'CorporateMastersOfTheUniverse' have charted out their plans years in advance and then they select the politician with the personality that's best able to achieve those plans in 4 year increments.

If you want to lie the country into war for oil and profiteering, then GeorgeWBush is your man to front it, with DickCheney, the former SecretaryOfDefense who initiated the privatizing of the military a decade earlier, actually running the operation from the shadows.

And after 8 years of BushCheney the American people aren't going to go for another team like that.  They're going to want HOPE and CHANGE, with a persona they can believe in and trust.  BarackObama.

Obama's 'most ardent admirers' just like the packaging better.  I'm not talking skin color, although that may be a factor for some of them; I'm talking about how a 'D' after the name is a brand they trust believe and trust in, despite the fact that it's the same 'soap' (product).

You continue to support Obama-Democrats at the expense of your own best interests. As long as his numbers remain high, Obama does the bidding of corporations and establishment elites.

Why should Obama-Democrats do anything for you if they know they've got you over a barrel, that you're going to vote for them no matter what, because you're terrified of Republicans?

A Big Mistake In Obama's War on Medical Marijuana

Really?  REALLY??  You really still believe that "lesser of two evils"-garbage???

How can you say (and expect to be taken seriously) that Republicans are by far worse when Obama's continuing just about all the BushCheney policies, even going BushCo one better:

How do any of Obama's 'most ardent supporters' explain Obama's doctrine that presidents have the right to kill American citizens with no due process, no oversight, NDAA, and his push for 'indefinite preventive detention' and no transparency of anything a president asserts should be his secret?  It's Pure Kafka.

I don't know how any Democrat can get behind this.

And it's Obama who's put SocialSecurity and Medicare and Medicaid on the table.

At this point, I'd argue that Obama-Democrats are worse.  BushCheney make no bones or excuses for what they've done and who they are, whereas Obama-Democrats ran on knowing better.

What you fear is easily remedied (if Democrats are on the side of the 99%, as you claim) by Democrats stymieing a Republican president and Congress as effectively as Republicans have with the smallest minority over Democrats who've had the greatest majority in decades.  You would think that with Republicans controlling the House after the 2010 midterms, Democrats would've turned the tables and thwarted Republicans' continuing legislation like Bush's tax cuts for the rich?  Are Democrats just stupld?

And FWIW, whether it's the energy cartels that have Obama jumpstarting new nuclear plant starts or his shelving environmental regulations of air and water, Americans are getting sicker and will be in more need of costly pharmaceutical and healthcare products in the coming years.

A Big Mistake In Obama's War on Medical Marijuana

Let me exemplify the problem that I, as an old liberal Democrat, have with the state of our government and elections.

You would think that Democratic politicians would be for the same things that I, as a liberal Democrat, am for -- Smart, progressive policies.  Even just the basics, what might be called "compromises", like leaving marijuana illegal, but just rescheduling it.  Or leaving it illegal for recreational use, but leaving medical marijuana dispensaries alone.  Like (on another topic), forget about stopping GMOs from getting into the food supply (oh how I wish), but at least allowing states to permit the labeling of GMOs on food so that I can make a choice whether I want to put GMOs into my body and my children's and grandchildren's bodies.

Here is the roll call vote on the 6/21/2012 US Senate vote on a bill to permit states to require any food, beverage or other edible product offered for sale have a label on it indicating that it contains a genetically engineered ingredient.

Guess who else voted against this?

Democratic senators Al Franken, Sherrod Brown, Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Ben Cardin, Jeff Bingaman, Tom Harkin, Debbie Stabenow, among other Democrats. Monsanto has bought and paid for them.  I'm told they're referred to as "The Monsanto Senators".

Al Franken, fercrissakes.

Unless and until there is drastic and uncompromising change to our campaign financing system, until corporations are no longer 'persons' and are prohibited from participating in elections and politics, all efforts to reform government are useless. But that is NOT going to happen under Obama or the DLC-controlled Democratic Party as we'd hoped when we put them in power in 2008; it's not even on their 'To Do' list.  Both parties are corrupt to the bone.

This liberal Democrat is done with the Democratic Party.

A Big Mistake In Obama's War on Medical Marijuana

Legalizing marijuana isn't my #1 concern, but all of these issues are interconnected with the top issue we are constantly being told by the media is the only concern of the electorate, and determinant of the outcome of the election (the economy).

FWIW, I don't partake, but others who do can't get their medical marijuana without the risk of running afoul of the law and resulting in everything from incarceration to fines, all costly.  The cost to me as a citizen (diverted law enforcement from real crimes, violent and other, court resourses, prison costs) is huge.

Neither Obama nor Romney will deliver on any issue important to the 99%.  This is just one of many issues where Obama's hypocrisy and deceitfulness is apparent for all to see.

How Obama has handled the massive problems is EXACTLY how Republicans would've handled them (and how BushCheney was handling them).  Obama's not governing as he had promised or as a real Democrat would've.

The real shame, the real tragedy for all of us is that Obama could have been a transcendent president, good for both business AND the People.  It would've answered just about all of the problems Obama found himself facing, left to him by BushCheney.

Job creation possibilities were lost when the real reform proposed by SinglePayerUniversalHealthcare advocates was eliminated from even getting a seat at the table, and Obama chose to preserve an anachronistic, expensive and failed insurance industry and employer-provided system for medical care, which is government-sanctioned racketeering.

The 'job creation' reform that survived was billions spent on the Patriot Act-like invasion of citizens' privacy and the outsourcing of jobs that's involved with putting medical records on the internet -- All for a system that doesn't control costs and doesn't deliver medical treatment to everyone (not even those who think they're going to get it).

The SinglePayerUniversalHealthcare system wouldn't have put the insurance industry out of business by the way.  It would've been a two-tiered system: Basic coverage for everyone and boutique coverage for those willing to pay for it. So nobody had to worry about poor Big Insurance and Pharma -- There would've been work for all. Big Insurance and Pharma would just had to have made smarter gambles, with no taxpayer bailouts.

Whether it's shelving environmental regulations or amping up executive powers to where presidents can kill American citizens with no due process, Obama hasn't done jack for me or any of the 99%.  Hoping he'll deliver to us after the election is too late; before the election is when the deals are cut, the alliances forged.  That's why I keep telling Obama's 'most ardent supporters' that by assuring him that they're with him no matter what, they let him dismiss their issues and them.

Sherrod Brown Vs. Josh Mandel: Senate Race Shaping Up To Be Most Expensive In State History

Quote Approval Becoming The Norm Between Journalists, Campaigns

Even cable talking heads are nothing more than ventriloquists' dummies, regurgitating what the White House Communications' Office and Congressional leaders press offices dictate to them.  Cable news anchors question their reporters on camera as if the reporters are the politicians, and the reporters are left defending what they were told by the politicians, in the reporters' own words.  Nobody bothers asking politicians questions on camera anymore.
