Message to Democrats: Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Hillary Clinton is to the RIGHT of Obama.

Do you know what the DLC is and who is in it?

Who we are looking for is not in the Democratic Party. Not as a professional politician anyway.

Watch this and see if you don't agree:

Unless Obama pulls an LBJ and announces that he won't be running in 2012, the only possible challenge to him has got to come from outside of the Democratic establishment. It could be a Democrat, but not a professional politician.

And it needs to happen.

Do you think that Democrats will be as effective at thwarting the Republicans as the Republicans have been in thwarting Democrats?

How long do you think Congressman Pete Fazio will drag out investigate impeaching John Roberts, and do you think other Democrats will join him? Or will they all succumb to Obama's call for civility, bipartisanship, cooperation?

We need REAL Democrats in office. Champions for the People, with fire-in-their-bellies.

Mitch McConnell Challenges Obama With Bold Speech

If you want to believe that the Democratic Party is the party of the People, & not what I say it is (a shill for the corporations, just like the Republican Party), be my guest. If you want People-friendly legislation, populist policies, then there can be no more avoiding by Democrats of a head-on confrontation with Republicans. No accommodation, no more compromising, no "bipartisanship", but a president who takes to the bully pulpit day in and day out SAVAGING them. A president who launches investigations and prosecutions into the economic meltdown and the wars, the t0rture, and LEVELS the Republicans who have reduced us to third world status.

But that's not going to happen with the DLC controlling the Democratic Party & Barack Obama in the White House.

You don't campaign on being against the wars & for putting them on budget (which is a method for ending them - see how & why here: http://www .huffingto npost.com/ social/Mar cospinelli /obamas-in terview-wi th-progres sive-blogg ers_n_7751 12_6529499 4.html ) & then don't.

And THEN, vote for more supplementals!

Democrats have controlled the entire process. Democrats have had the ability to accomplish putting the war on budget; Democrats haven't needed Republicans to do this, for TWO YEARS & haven't done it.

Democrats have let Obama continue with just about all of BushCheney's policies & wars, & gone BushCheney even one better, letting Obama assert, unchallenged, that presidents have the right to k!ll Americans with no due process or oversight, 'preventive detention', no transparency of anything a president asserts should be his secret - Not by the citizens or even judicial review.

Democrats have abdicated their Constituti onally-REQ UIRED role of oversight of the executive branch. They failed to perform it during the BushCheney administration, & still don't with one of their own in the WhiteHouse.

It also doesn't fix the base or inherent problem: Transparency in workplace pay. And in the economic times like what we're experiencing today (and in the long term foreseeable future), expect the pendulum to swing back to pre-equal pay legislation when people are faced with homelessness and hunger. It's like fixing the Corvair's drift problem in an age of Priuses.

Also ironically, the same kind of problem (administrative or 'housekeeping' issues) has been written into every other piece of legislation that is on your list of Obama's 'accomplishments'. It's most notably in Obama's healthcare legislation, and it's what's going to enable Republicans to enact tort reform legislation in the near future, which Obama & Democrats will "compromise" (cave) on.

I look askance at those who tout Obama's 'accomplishments', because I know they're hapless saps, the victims of propaganda campaigns who aren't seeing that while the house is burning to the ground, instead of calling the fire department, instead of picking up a fire extinguisher or a hose and spraying water on it, instead of running inside to rescue trapped people & pets, Obama has been unscrewing the address plate from the mailbox.

I don't know what it's going to take to get through to Pelosi's & Obama's 'most ardent supporters', and it's becoming disconsoling.

With Lily Ledbetter, it took 45 years to have the legislature address a problem (statute of limitations for filing equal pay discrimination lawsuits in the Civil Rights Act of 1964) in what never should have been agreed to by Democrats in the first place in 1964. Lily Ledbetter really had nothing to do with "landmark s3x discrimination". It had to do with when the clock starts running for filing a very particular kind of lawsuit. It doesn't affect statutes of limitation for any other kind of lawsuit. It doesn't apply to the filing of all lawsuits. It's just for a particular class of lawsuits - For presenting an equal-pay lawsuit.

And it wasn't 45 years of Congresses trying to fix it. It was a year and a half. It was in response to the Supreme Court's decision in 2007 in one woman's lawsuit. It's not going to affect millions, or thousands or even hundreds of others - Ironically, if it were to affect more women, it never would have passed, no matter what party held the Congress (because it would have meant more money paid out from corporations to women, and Democrats work for corporations just as Republicans do).

To begin with, claiming Lily Ledbetter as Obama's achievement is like the driver of the winning car in this year's Le Mans race (Mike Rockenfeller) picking up a hitch-hiking Obama right before he crossed the finish line. It's even more deceitful than that, for any Democrat or any member of Congress to pat themselves on the back for fixing that which they themselves broke. But even that doesn't quite explain it.

Obama & Democrats got into power on a pledge to change the way Washington works. Little is ever said or explained about what that really means. I'm going to attempt it:

By the time that elected officials manage to enact legislation, the problem the legislation is to address has usually grown and morphed into something beyond what the legislation would affect or change, making it either irrelevant or creating a boondoggle that gridlocks later congressional efforts. Or, something else.

Did the Senate pass those 420 pieces of legislation that were passed in the House? (No)

Democrats in both chambers of Congress work as a team. They identify what they hope to achieve (pro-corporate legislation) and then strategize how to get it while saving each other's hides with constituents come election time.

Those in liberal districts get to talk a good game about being champions of the People, but when push comes to shove, if their votes are needed to cross over and k!ll liberal legislation (like a public option or access to ab0rtion), the DNC will make sure they are covered come election time, with massive infusions of money into their campaign war chests and crushing any principled challenges to them from the left in their primaries.

Health Care Repeal: No Clear Path For GOP

Poll Shows 76% Support For Choice Of Public Plan:

http://www.huf fingtonpost.com/2009/06/17/obama-boost-new-poll-show_n_217175.html

GOP calls for repeal of health law, but many in poll wish overhaul went further:

4 in 10 adults think the new law did not go far enough to change the health-care system, regardless of whether they support the law, oppose it or remain neutral. On the other side, about one in five say they oppose the law because they think the federal government should not be involved in health care at all.

The poll was conducted by Stanford University with a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Overall, 30 percent favored the legislation, while 40 percent opposed it and 30 percent remained neutral.

The survey also found a desire for change that could pose a problem for Republicans wanting to repeal the legislation. Only 25 percent in the poll said minimal tinkering would suffice for the health-care system.

It's not the same for Republicans. If the Republican leadership gets the deals they want (which are the same deals pro-corporate Obama wants), they'll spin it that they "whupped him but good!" The imagery they'll use plays right into their stereotypical big0try, r@c!sm, etc. The GOP base will accept their working with Obama because it'll give them accomplishments to run on in 2012.

Obama is with them on fiscal & foreign policy, as well as on many social issues. He courted and won over many evangelical Chr!stians in 2008.

Democratic voters have to get noisy and demand the Democratic leadership they thought they were going to get when they voted in 2008. That's how it's got to happen.

Investigations and trials go a long way in dealing with that. It's not their minds you want to change, but the millions of Americans who never knew the facts. They broke the law, and we enforce the law so that people KNOW the laws and live by them. If People don't agree with the laws, if they don't like the laws, they can change the laws. But the People have to have a direct experience and understanding of the laws before they can change them. And that's how you get an informed, healthy and active democracy. With an knowledgeable electorate.

Bush Directly Authorized Use Of Waterboarding, Still Rejects 'Torture' Classification In New Book

You are either for the rule of law or you're not.

For a president of the United States not to equally apply the law to all people, presidents, too, means that the grand experiment is over.

Not prosecuting BushCo is destroying the country. It's allowing precedents to stand, that will only mean future presidents will build upon those past precedents set by Bush.

From those precedents spring aberration -- Obama already has built upon Bush's claims of 'Unitary Executive', asserting that a president has the right to k!ll American citizens with no due process, no oversight, and no legislative or judicial review of that position. Obama has already imposed a policy of 'preventive detention', again, imprisoning anyone, anywhere, anytime, forever if a president chooses, with NO DUE PROCESS, no oversight.

How any Democrat defends that is beyond my understanding.

Bush happened because of the pardoning of Nixon. The Nixon pardon happened because of Cheney & Rumsfeld. These are not just disconnected events. These people have been up to mischief for a long while. They never got over Watergate & their fall from grace. They never believed they did anything wrong.

Running from these facts isn't going to make the Nixon-Reag an-Bush-Ch eney-GOP-C onservativ es behave, or go away. Waiting them out, until they d!e, isn't going to end it -- They've raised & trained an army of 'true believers' to carry on after they're gone.

I think the only people who would be complaining would be Republican politicians.

I think investigating and prosecuting what happened during the past 8+ years would go a long way to fixing what's been done to this country (and the world) and create jobs and industries and restore the middle class, lift up the poor, and benefit even the rich, and prevent what's happened from ever happening again.

Right now, nothing that Obama and Democrats have done do that. There is nothing in that finance reform legislation that would have prevented the heist or that will prevent it happening again.

Why is George W. Bush being allowed to back into polite society?

Why isn't he having to spend 24/7 with his lawyers, working on a way to stay out of prison?

Oh, that's right, I forgot: Because Obama and the DLC-Democrats have blocked all investigations and prosecutions into Bush-Cheney and Republicans, and have allowed them to resurrect themselves and take back control over government.

And because of Obama's failure to restore the Constitution and return us to the rule of law, by holding Bush, Cheney, et al, accountable, JEB Bush was all over the news on election night as the man behind Florida's new Tea Party Senator, Marco Rubio. So expect a Jeb Bush run at the presidency in the not-to-distant-future. Perhaps with Liz Cheney on the ticket with him.

This is Obama's fault -- The buck stops squarely at his feet.

You make an interesting point, about "conspiracy theory".

There actually are ways to prove this; not too a certainty without signed confessions, but enough for a jury to convict. ;-)

Statistical probabilities of coincidence. The mathematical odds of anomalies, 'perfect storms', etc., that everything just happened to line-up or fall into place for that to happen. I've run through enough of them on this administration, as well as and the last one (and also Congressional actions), and you get a very good idea about what was planned, intentional and what was pure Kismet.
