Unless and until there is drastic and uncompromising change to our campaign financing system, until corporations are no longer 'persons' and are prohibited from participating in elections and politics, all efforts to reform government are useless. But that is NOT going to happen under Obama or the DLC-controlled Democratic Party. It's not even on their 'To Do' list. It is on Ratigan's.

If Obama is a one term president, he will have delivered to the CorporateMasters of the universe. He'll hand the baton off to Republicans for the fleecing to continue and go on to reap the benefits from his treacherous betrayal of the People, i.e., the same sort of corporate payoffs that presidents since Gerald Ford have enjoyed.

Over the course of US history, corporations have managed to game our political system, and done it so effectively that the two-party system competes to serve corporate interests while defending that service as, "What's good for GM (corporations) is good for America (the People)".

Democrats (controlled by the DLC, and that's important to remember) and Republicans are corporate tools. Like siblings competing for the attention and approval (campaign contributions) of a parent, Republicans and DLC-controlled Democrats try to outdo each other in delivering for their real constituent, BigCorporations. The trick for them has been to make it seem as if they were really working on behalf of thePeople.

If you must continue to delude yourself into thinking Obama's a good guy who never would have started those wars, and who has only the best of intentions but got a bad deal (I don't share that opinion anymore), then think of all this as a business plan where the CorporateMasters of the Universe have charted out their plans years in advance (governments do them, too) and select the politician/personality best able to achieve those plans in 4 year increments. If you want to l!e the country into war for oil and war-profiteering, then GeorgeWBush is your man to front it (with DickCheney, the former Secretary of Defense who initiated the privatizing of the military a decade earlier, actually running the operation from the shadows).

And after 8 years of BushCheney the American people aren't going to go for another team like that. They're going to want HOPE and CHANGE, with a persona they can believe in and trust. BarackObama.

The truth is that Obama is no better than BushCheney. Not better, not worse, but the same (although a case can be made that Obama and Democrats are worse -- BushCheneyRepublicans make no bones or excuses for what they've done and who they are, whereas Obama and Democrats ran on knowing better). Obama's 'most ardent admirers' just like the packaging better. I'm not talking skin color, although that may be a factor for some of them; I'm talking about how a 'D' after the name is a brand they trust believe and trust in, despite the fact that it's the same 'soap' (product).

To those who are falling into the "Ratigan shouldn't have been interrupting" trap: Everyone who appears on those programs has an earpiece connected to a producer talking to them, acting like an orchestra conductor, urging them to cut in. Even the hosts. These shows are produced to be entertainment venues, not news programs. These programs are staged like sporting events, where competition between guests are encouraged and tension between participants is pushed. Producers think this makes for good television.

Ed Schultz began as a conservative talk radio (h8 radio) host to what he was calling himself 3-4 years ago, a "centrist Democrat".

Schultz was the blue-collar kind of guy that voted for Reagan. Ed loved Reagan, h8ted liberals, and that's what his show was all about. The problem for Ed was that after Llmbaugh and the end of the Fairness Doctrine, the air waves quickly filled with Limbaugh wannabes, and in that sea, Ed couldn't really gain traction.

When the tides began to turn and Reagan Democrats started feeling the effects of Republican fiscal policies and they were losing their jobs they began to realize that Republican management philosophy of "Last hired, first fired" also applied to their political loyalties ("We eat our young after we get their vote"), Ed Schultz saw a career opportunity and became a "centrist Democrat". Within one year he was referring to himself as a liberal Democrat.

Ed's not well read or big on 'book learnin'. He knows nothing about Democratic theory, US history, Democratic doctrine or liberal philosophy, how government or politics works (a few weeks ago even Al Sharpton showed Schultz up in a panel fight about one of the Republican presidential candidate debates), how the legislative process goes, etc. He doesn't know pretty basic information that movement libs were weaned on, except that he's been consistently pro-labor union.

But Ed's true colors surfaced again with healthcare reform -- Ed's not really on the side of the working men and women; he pushed the bill for the "small business owner". Unfortunately for Ed, when he ceased support for public healthcare , he proved his true conservative Republican colors. Obama's healthcare legislation really doesn't help small business owners either (the only businesses getting waivers/exemptions are huge corporations). Single payer would help the small business owner. Employers and employees do not want their being able to get medical treatment tied to their job, but that is what the insurance industry wanted so Obama and the DLC-controlled Democrats in Congress have made sure that continues in perpetuity .

Schultz was majorly in love with Obama until after the healthcare legislation was passed. It was only then that Schultz started, and for only a short time, talking about the 'emperor having shoes but no feet'.

Ed's nothing if not an opportunist. But I say that in a complimentary sense. And I give him chops -- His screeds on MSNBC about single payer universal health care left everyone else there in the dust. But in the end, he climbs back into bed with the 'Establishment Elites' and does their bidding.

Congress can (and has) passed legislation that a president has written, 'as is'.

Secret White House panel can put Americans on "kill list

American militants like Anwar al-Awlaki are placed on a kill or capture list by a secretive panel of senior government officials, which then informs the president of its decisions, according to officials.
There is no public record of the operations or decisions of the panel, which is a subset of the White House's National Security Council, several current and former officials said. Neither is there any law establishing its existence or setting out the rules by which it is supposed to operate.

The panel was behind the decision to add Awlaki, a U.S.-born militant preacher with alleged al Qaeda connections, to the target list. He was killed by a CIA drone strike in Yemen late last month.
