What the President Could Learn From Sarah Palin

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

You're obviously entitled to your beliefs, but I don't agree with them at all.

As a matter of fact, I've never heard anybody frame Obama's victory and Hillary's loss as you do.

I've now seen two of your comments, and both are, IMHO, revisionist history.

Most Hillary and Bill supporters think that the Clintons are liberals. Most of the Clinton supporters don't know what the DLC is. Most have a romantic view of the Clintons that conveniently ignores facts no self-respecting liberal would associate themselves with.

Barack Obama got into office by misleading Democratic voters. He ran to the left of Hillary Clinton. He convinced centrists that he was a centrist. He convinced liberals he was a liberal posing as a centrist.

First and foremost, Obama is a lawyer, and I mean that in the worst sense of the word, choosing his words very carefully (lawyer-speak) during the campaign, giving people the sense of what they wanted to hear to get their vote. It's why even among his most ardent admirers, they still argue about whether he's a liberal or a centrist or a moderate Republican.

Doing what is good for transnational corporations is what Obama is about, and trying to sell it as good for Americans is what he does afterwards. He's the epitome of the 1950s Republican, "What's good for GM is good for America."

He did a job on everybody.

What fact do you think is incorrect?

Is USAID a federal agency run by a presidential appointee, in this case, an Obama appointee? (YES)

Is American taxpayers' money going to train foreign workers to work outsourced US jobs? (YES)

We're in the midst of an economic DEPRESSION in this country, with millions of Americans out of work, losing their homes, living on the streets, losing their retirement, healthcare, dropping out of school, and US taxpayer money is going to train foreign workers in outsourced jobs?

Are you nvtz?

You must be living a phat life.

Democratic voters should have been purging the Democratic Party of DINOs, just as the fringe rightwing of the GOP (Teabaggers) have been putting the most extreme of the extreme in as their nominees, for the rightwingers like Mitch McConnell to control should they win in November.

Now what happens is a choice between the extreme fringe rightwingers (Republicans) and the rightwing of the Democratic Party.

The American electorate, particularly the Democratic voters (Republican voters are hopeless), has to smarten up.

To date, the only person who Obama has prosecuted has been Bernie Madoff. While doing terrible and illegal things, Madoff was nevertheless responsible for about $170 billion of the more than $10 trillion worth of economic holes that were blown into the economy during the economic meltdown. In other words, at his height, Madoff caused less than 2% of the total economic catastrophe. That is something that is very important to keep in mind because as of the time of writing this particular article, Bernie Madoff is the only significant player to actually have gone to jail for his actions during the period of build-up that ultimately led to this economic collapse.

Obama's refused to go after anyone in the Republican leadership or in Congress. Not Mitch McConnell, not John Boehner, not Eric Cantor, not John McCain (the titular head of the Party, as the last presidential nominee).

It would be kind of hard to swallow (Obama going after the Bush administration for having committed crimes) when it's the same activities that Obama's actively engaged in. It's also counterproductive to the DLC's other agenda, which is to attract Republican politicians and their supporters into the Democratic Party, which can only be done by moving the Democratic Party to the right of right-of-center.

The Tea Party has always been a myth, & a myth that Obama & Rahm Emanuel have helped to create. In all of the US, there are 600 registered members of the Tea Party. The Tea Party is the means by which the Republican Party tosses its most active fringees some red meat. Like Al Qaeda with fewer than 100 in Afghanistan, the Tea Party has fewer than 600 members nationwide. But teabaggers don't even run as independents, third party; they run as Republicans.

Obama refused to go after Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Feith, Wolfowitz, Yoo, Bybee, et al, blocked all investigations and prosecutions into that administration. Obama (nor any of the Democratic Party leadership) refuses to hold anyone in the Bush administration to account, for anything, from t0rture and Iying to take the nation to war, to the financial meltdown, the greatest heist on the American people in the history of the world.

Obama came into the White House with The GOP was on the mat (not even the ropes), unable to breath after the 2008 election, but Obama and Emanuel gave them life support & let them rise again.

Instead of going after Republicans and finishing them off, instead of laying the responsibility for our economic woes and wars of choice at what was left of the Republican Party in office, Obama & Rahm Emanuel went gunning for Sarah Palin & Rush Limbaugh. Obama & Emanuel made Palin & Limbaugh, two people with no role in the Republican Party, the focus.

Obama & Emanuel have never mentioned Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Eric Canter, Karl R0ve, George W, H.W., Jeb Bush, Cheney, NOBODY who is actually IN the Republican Party as the problem.

Do you know what the DLC is, and who is in it? Do you know what neoliberalism means?

Obama might as well be a Republican for all of his commitment to Democratic ideology.

Since Obama has gotten into office, he's continued most of Bush's policies & his 'accomplishments' are being spun as "reform" when, in fact, they're Republican in nature.

The healthcare bill is Bush's Medicare Reform Act of 2003, Part 2. It's a massive giveaway to the insurance & pharmaceutical industries, with no cost controls, doesn't cover everyone, and will end all public healthcare programs.

The finance reform bill was so bad for banks and businesses that the stock market shot up immediately upon Obama signing it. It wouldn't have prevented the economic meltdown and does nothing to prevent future ones.

Have you seen this?:

Why is our Government Paying To Train Foreign Workers & Then Sending our Jobs Overseas?

In the wake of President Obama's promise to keep more hi-tech jobs in the U.S., a federal agency run by a hand-picked Obama appointee has created a $22 million program to train workers, including 3,000 specialists in IT, in South Asia. After these tech workers are trained, they will be placed with outsourcing vendors that provide business services to American companies looking to take advantage of the Asian subcontinent's low labor costs. This is being run by the US agency for international development, an agency whose mission is to help other nations develop into modern and functional economies in the hope that by raising their standards of living we will also raise the possibility of Democracy in their countries - and make them our friends in the process. In many ways over the years USAID has done a good job of this, helping countries to develop their own manufacturing sectors for their own people. But to use the resources of AID to help Sri Lanka, in this case, build IT and call centers for American countries is quite simply insanity.

I suggest that you consider Democrats & Republicans as working on the same side, as tag relay teams (or like siblings competing for parental approval). 'Good cop/bad cop'. One side (Republicans) makes brazen frontal assaults on the People, & when the People have had enough, they put Democrats into power because of Democrats' populist rhetoric.

Once in power, Democrats consolidate Republicans' gains from previous years, & continue on with Republican policies but renamed, with new advertising campaigns. They throw the People a few bones, but once Democrats leave office, we learn that those bones really weren't what WeThePeople thought they were.

Whenever the People get wise to the shenanigans & all the different ways they've been tricked & start seeing Democrats as no different than Republicans, Democrats switch the strategy. They invent new reasons for failing to achieve the People's business -- This current one, because "Democrats are nicer, not as ruthless, not criminal" etc., is custom-tailored to Obama's 'bipartisan cooperation' demeanor. It's smirk-worthy when you realize they're trying to sell that they're inept, unable to achieve what they were put into office to do, & that's "a good thing".

Whichever of us is right (& I can back up my contentions with much evidence of Obama's not being any more ethical than BushCheney, beginning with his assertion that the president has the right to k!II American citizens with absolutely no due process, no oversight), how is his government's ineffectiveness working for you, for us? (I ask rhetorically)

How do you think that will be interpretted by Obama, Democrats and the media? What do you think they will think they have a mandate to do?

Criticism & failing numbers in the polls have done nothing to persuade this president or this Congress to move to the left.

Our elections every two years is a window period, a time to re-up or opt-in/opt-out. Vote incumbents out who have failed to achieve on their campaign pledges. For whatever reason, they are not capable of achieving what they claim to be their own and their constituents' shared objectives.

Right this very period, the weeks leading up to an election (voting's already begun and it may be too late) -- That's it for making our deals with the candidates. Vote against them now or forever (in another 2 years) hold your peace.

Voters' are not limited to voting for just Democrats and Republicans. There are other alternatives besides sitting out the election or voting for Republicans.

There are other candidates running as independents, from Green to Libertarian, in just about every race.

What do you think Obama is going to do after the November 2 elections if Republicans take control of one or both Houses of Congress?

Do you think he'll veto the legislation they pass (through reconciliation & every other means they can manage)? Do you think Obama will take to the bully pulpit, urge Americans to bury Republicans in email, phone calls, snail mail, & urge Democrats to block Republicans every way possible?

Or do you think that Obama's going to be making deal after deal with them, spinning what he can as somehow "Good for the People and Democrats", and/or, "I'm president of all the People, & the People in their infinite wisdom put Republicans in the majority, so I must honor their wishes & work with Republicans, & not try to obstruct their will"?

And if Democrats keep control of Congress? Do you think Obama's going to continue trying to work in a "bipartisan manner" with Republicans, keep flip-flopping on his campaign promises, & say that the election was a referendum on his trying "change the tone in Washington", and voters want him to do more of the same?

If you think Obama has seen the light, guess again:
