Stop The Moanin' And Get To Work!

Saturday, July 2, 2011

Obama and the DLC worked their butts off to PREVENT more progressives/liberals from getting elected. Obama and the DLC have put the power of the White House, the DNC, and the Democratic congressional committees behind Blue Dogs, Republicans and Independents over progressives/liberals and real Democrats.  Some, but not all, examples:

Blue Dog Blanche Lincoln over progressive Democrat Lt. Governor Bill Halter.

Republican-turned-Independent Arlen Specter over progressive Democrat Joe Sestak.

Republican-turned-Independent Lincoln Chaffee over Democrat Frank Caprio (which, in turn, is an effective endorsement of the Republican John Loughlin over Democrat David Cicilline for the congressional seat Democrat Patrick Kennedy is retiring from, and all of the other seats up for grab in Rhode Island).

Republican-turned-Independent Charlie Crist over liberal Democrat Kendrick Meek.

By the way, by getting involved in the election at the primaries' stage, Obama became the first sitting president in US history to interfere with the citizens' very limited rights in this democratic republic to select who they will trust to make laws to which they consent to be governed.

Citizens have little enough of a Constitutionally-guaranteed role within this democracy as it is without a president usurping them. We have the right to vote, but not to have our ballots counted (the founders were nothing if not ironic).  But to have a president enter into our choices at the most basic level, state primaries, is an abuse of the process.

Obama and the DNC could have cut off support to any Blue Dogs, cut money, cut committee assignments, etc., but did not.

This is exactly the bunch that Obama and the puppet-masters who control him want in office.  On both sides of the aisle.  Obama, Ds & Rs in office, working on behalf of transnational corporations.

Michele Bachmann's History As A Foster Parent Remains Murky

Michele Bachmann (whose parents divorced when she was young and whose mother remarried to create a family of nine children) has a brother who has said that little Michele was quite the enterprising manipulator:  She used to get her brothers to compete to do her chores.

When I first started writing about Michele Bachmann a few years ago, the number of foster teenaged girls she'd taken into her home was said to be 14, not 23, and that they were used as domestics to clean her house and babysit her own 5 children.

The Bachmanns got a higher level of reimbursement from the state for these girls because they took in teenagers receiving treatment for a psychological disorder (eating).  Of all the problem children a psychologist and his wife could take in, able-bodied teenage girls with eating disorders is very specific.
I think that there is a pattern that shows up throughout Bachmann's life, instilled in her by her mother, a single parent who worked in banking:  Fear of poverty, fears around scarcity, obsession with obtaining money, government handouts, free services paid for by others.  It costs a fortune to raise one child much less 5.  Imagine getting money to feed and house teenagers who don't eat (or purge what they've eaten) while using those girls to clean your house and babysit your children so that you can go out and work.

This is a valid line of questioning that Bachmann should have to face by journalists.  About why, of all of the psychological problem children they could have fostered, the Bachmann's chose teenage girls with eating disorders.

Michele Bachmann's History As A Foster Parent Remains Murky

She DID NOT RAISE THEM. She gave them a place to sleep and eat for a short time.

================================================

She didn't do all that much of that either, it seems:

The Bachmanns were licensed by the state from 1992 to 2000 to handle up to three foster children at a time; the last child arrived in 1998. They began by offering short-term care for girls with eating disorders who were treated through a program at the University of Minnesota, said George Hendrickson, the chief executive of PATH Minnesota, the private agency that handled the placements.

He said the Bachmann home was “technically considered a treatment home,” which offered a higher level of reimbursement.

Of all the possible emotionally troubled able-bodied teenagers a psychologist and his wife (with 5 of their own young children), could take into their home, the Bachmanns chose teenage girls with "eating disorders".

Obama Says 'Nothing Can Be Off-Limits' In Budget Talks

There are $3 trillion in cuts to social programs in Obama's 2011 budget.  Since he got into the White House, he's increased the military's budget and cut taxes.

"I thought Bill Clinton was the best Republican president we've had in a while. Barack Obama is even better."
-Alan Greenspan

Obama Says 'Nothing Can Be Off-Limits' In Budget Talks

============================================

There we go.  There's the Obama that we've come to know and distrust.

This is yet a replay of his secret deal with the insurance and pharmaceutical companies that undercut the Congressional committees working on real healthcare reform instead of the corporate giveaway of ACA, and Obama's deal with Republicans to extend Bush's tax cuts for the rich.

After months of insisting that Democrats wouldn't allow cuts to Social Security and Medicare, that they were not on the table, Social Security Benefits Cuts Are, Indeed, On The Table In The Debt Ceiling Negotiations -- And in A Really Sneaky, Stealth Way!

U.S. Expands Its Drone War Into Somalia

Michael Lerner's very powerful case for primarying Obama.

Ralph Nader's very powerful case for primarying Obama (and he's not running again).

No one in the Democratic Party will do it.  It would be su!cide for any professional politician in the Democratic Party to run against the party's sitting president (the DLC has gotten too powerful, what with a Democrat in the White House and a Democratically-controlled Senate overseeing an NSA with today's eavesdropping abilities).

Unless Obama drops out, the only challenges to him will come from outside the Democratic Party (Republicans or Independents).

Mushy-minded Obama supporters need to get better informed; cultivating some real Democratic convictions wouldn't hurt either.  Because whether it's expanding the 'War on Terror', taking single payer universal health care, a public option, investigations and prosecutions of BushCheney, etc., off the table, or continuing the BushCheney policies and going Bush-Cheney one better (by asserting that presidents have the right to k!ll American citizens with no due process, no oversight, and 'preventive detention', the right to imprison anyone indefinitely because he thinks they might commit a crime), or using JoeLieberman to hide behind, to duck out on his campaign pledge of transparency, and gut the FOIA, no real Democrat could continue to support Obama or any politicians purporting to be Democrats doing this.
