Biden Retreats On Afghanistan Drawdown (VIDEO)

Monday, July 19, 2010

Between the economic collapse and the oil blowout in the Gulf of Mexico, Obama has had one opportunity after another these past 18 months to put the US on the path to green sustainable energy with a robust, beefy, 'Manhattan Project'-style endeavor.

But he hasn't done that.

It would be the answer to all of our problems, from creating new manufacturing industries to employing millions.

Instead, Obama pays lip service to alternative energy projects, and devotes pennies to it.

Biden Retreats On Afghanistan Drawdown (VIDEO)

'Hijacking Catastrophe' (a 2004 documentary):

"The war in Iraq was very very clearly about oil, as was the war in Afghanistan. The oil pipeline that was planned (in Afghanistan), the best security for that was an occupation."

"If you map the proposed pipeline route across Afghanistan and you look at our bases? Matches perfectly. Our bases are there to solve a problem that the Taliban couldn't solve. Taliban couldn't provide security in that part of Afghanistan -- Well now that's where our bases are. So, does that have to do with Osama Bin Laden? It has nothing to do with Osama Bin Laden. It has everything to do with the longer plan, in this case a strategy which I wouldn't necessarily call neoconservative, however it fits perfectly in with the neoconservative ideology which says, 'If you have military force and you need something from a weaker country, then you need to deploy that force and take what you need because your country's needs are paramount'. It's the whole idea of unilateralism, of using force to achieve your aims."

-Lt. Colonel Karen Kwiatkowski, retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel whose assignments included a variety of roles for the National Security Agency and who spent her last 4 1/2 years working at the Pentagon with Donald Rumsfeld

American Crossroads Attacks Harry Reid For Not Bringing Nevada Enough Stimulus

During the Bush years, Democrats said if the People wanted change, they had to put Democrats in the majority in Congress. So in 2006, we did.

Nothing changed.

Democrats said, "You have to give us more Democrats -- 60 in the Senate".

In 2008, we gave them the 60. And the WhiteHouse.

And no sooner did Obama get elected than he slammed on the brakes of the momentum of his election & a filibuster-proof Senate (with Kennedy & Byrd at de@th's door), did a 180-degree turn on his campaign promises & sloooooowed everything down. To "work in a bipartisan manner with Republicans", after Republicans had already announced they were going to block everything Democrats wanted to do, & vote no on everything in lockstep.

And with 2 of the 60 at de@th's door (Kennedy & Byrd), Obama slowed the works down.

Obama came into office with the wind at his back, with more people having voted for him (a black man in good old rac!$t America) than ever in the history of the US. They did it because of his ability to persuade: Obama was going to change the system, end the corporatocracy, lobbyism in government -- He was going to be the People's president, & not a corporate t00I.

Obama's appointed a deficit commission that is already beginning to let the shoes drop, about cuts to all public programs. The members of Obama's deficit commission support privatizing social security. We're in a Depression, we've had the first of what's going to be unknown numbers of economic collapses where the market is going to tank, and Obama's appointed a commission that wants to privatize social security.

States are going bankrupt, they can't pick up their share of Medicaid so that means services get cut. The feds aren't stepping in to help states out currently, so states are already cutting back on services. Philadelphia is cutting back on its fire services -- People are going to d!e because fire houses are being shut down. You know none of the closings are going to happen in Chestnut Hill.

Dave, you're stuffed with rhetoric. In 18 months of this administration, we have nothing. We have a continuation of Bush-Cheney, with Obama trying to usurp more power for himself than even Bush-Cheney had the nerve for. Obama's DoJ is prosecuting WHISTLEBLOWERS!

Get your head out of your @$$, Dave.

It prohibits the government from being able to negotiate lower drug prices (or reimportation). The insurance mandate is, indeed, a tax. Contrary to what Obama claimed, the IRS will be the enforcer, which means compounded fines and prison. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/18/health/policy/18health.html?_r=1&ref=politics

There is no mechanism for lowering the costs of treatment. Obama just put a fox in charge of this chicken coop -- Former WellPoint executive Liz Fowler will be writing & enforcing the regulations. http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/07/15/fowler/index.html

It's not universal, it has no chance of expanding to cover everyone, and it leads to the end of all public healthcare programs (Medicaid, Medicare, SCHIP, CHAMPUS, veterans care, etc.). That's a fact.

And before you throw me another one of those rhetorical gems, about it being "a first step", there can be no move toward any kind of a public option, or expanding Medicare coverage, as long as Obama is in the White House. That's the deal, the secret deal he made that undercut the Congressional committees writing alternative healthcare legislation.

how many times in the last say 40 years have the R's tried to push through HCR?

=====================================

You're implying that Democrats pushed through HCR. They haven't.

Just because Obama & Democrats call it HCR doesn't make it true.

In 2003, Republicans pushed through the same style of a healthcare bill that Obama and Democrats just pushed through. It was another massive corporate giveaway, where citizens are getting virtually nothing back for the fleecing. The Medicare Reform Act of 2003 that Republicans passed (with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist shepherding it through, and benefitting from personally due to his family's ownership of HCA), with Democrats' support, gave Big Insurance and PhRma close to $1 billion in taxpayer money. An unimaginable sum at that time.

ObamaCare is an even bigger giveaway to Big Insurance & PhRma.
