Gay Rights Activists Accuse Obama Of Silent Homophobia (VIDEO)

Monday, November 15, 2010

It's not healthcare reform rammed down their throats using reconciliation that people are screaming about -- It's the FAILURE to put real healthcare reform through.

It's that Obama and DLC-Democrats watered down legislation, made it Republican-like (RomneyCare -- Obama admits it),  using reconciliation to put through a corporate pork pie with no cost controls, institutionalizing Big Insurance as the gatekeepers to Americans' medical care, employer-based, not universal, instead of using reconciliation to put through single payer universal health care, or a public option, to get affordable quality medical treatment for everyone.

You are the reason we are in this mess. You and id-jits like you, who don't know what the flippin' h3ll you're talking about.

Health Care Law Gives 'Notable Improvement' To Debt Outlook If Implemented: GAO Report

What the report doesn't state is that it provides affordable quality medical treatment to everyone.

Imagine how much 'notable improvement to debt' we would have seen had the expensive middleman standing in the way as gatekeeper to Americans getting medical treatment had been removed.

All that Obama did was force a privatized insurance industry into Americans' relationship with their healthcare practitioners.

I believe OBAMA now realized he was taken for a spin by the centrist from the DLC like Rahm

What you believe isn't so.  Obama isn't about to do anything that you're suggesting.  He's continuing doing what he's been doing.  He was a Iy!ng fraud before the 2008 (there's no way to explain that FISA vote in July 2008) and he's the same Iy!ng fraud now.

SAIC, China's Largest Automaker, To Invest In GM

The American taxpayer bailed GM out, but small investors aren't going to be able to get into this:

But it could prove frustrating for retail investors who want to get in on the deal. The U.S. government has said that smaller investors will be able to participate in the offering of General Motors, which was rescued from near-collapse by taxpayer bailouts worth a combined $51 billion, but brokerages that sell to smaller investors including Charles Schwab and Scottrade aren't taking part in the offering.

Fidelity has an agreement with GM underwriter Deutsche Bank to sell shares to retail investors, said spokesman Steve Austin. But to place an order, investors must have at least $500,000 in assets with Fidelity, make 36 trades a year or be a premium investor, which normally is for high net-worth clients, Austin said.

Treasury spokesman Mark Paustenbach would not comment on small investors' access to the GM sale.

The greatest heist in the history of the world continues, more Americans are winding up like this, and Obama intends to cave on extending Bush's tax cuts, when IN FACT, if Congress let the Bush tax cuts lapse, the deficit would be cut IN HALF, immediately.

GOP's House Win Was Rejection Of Democrats, Not A Mandate: Poll

Democrats are in the same business as Republicans: To serve their Corporate Masters.

I suggest that you consider Democrats and Republicans as working on the same side, as tag relay teams (or like siblings competing for parental approval). 'Good cop/bad cop'. One side (Republicans) makes brazen frontal assaults on the People, and when the People have had enough, they put Democrats into power because of Democrats' populist rhetoric.

Once in power, Democrats consolidate Republicans' gains from previous years, and continue on with Republican policies but renamed, with new advertising campaigns. They throw the People a few bones, but once Democrats leave office, we learn that those bones really weren't what We, the People thought they were.

Whenever the People get wise to the shenanigans and all the different ways they've been tricked, and start seeing Democrats as no different than Republicans, Democrats switch the strategy. They invent new reasons for failing to achieve the People's business.

Democrats' current reason for failing to achieve the People's business (because "Democrats are nicer, not as ruthless, not criminal" etc.) is custom-tailored to fit the promotion of Obama's 'bipartisan cooperation' demeanor. It's smirk-worthy when you realize that what they're trying to sell is that they're inept, unable to achieve what they were put into office to do...And their ineptitude, that's somehow "a good thing".

GOP's House Win Was Rejection Of Democrats, Not A Mandate: Poll

Rumors of the Democratic politicians having no spines are greatly exaggerated.

Democratic voters have mistakenly believed that Obama and Democrats want what they want. The DLC-controlled Democratic Party gives lip service to all populist issues (like civil rights protections, restoring habeas corpus, ending the wars, public healthcare, Wall Street reform, environmental & energy issues, etc.).

Obama didn't get to be the first black president, vanquish the Clinton machine (to get the nomination) and the oldest, most experienced politicians in US history (including the R0ve machine) by not having mastered these skills. Nor do Democratic politicians (more incumbents than ever, in office longer) not know how to do it. How do you think Democrats managed to keep impeaching Bush and Cheney off the table, have us still reelecting them and not marching on Washington with torches and pitchforks?

Obama and Democrats know how to do it -- They don't want to do it.

The trick for them has been to keep the many different populist groups believing that they really do support our issues, but they're merely inept. And to get us to keep voting for them despite their failure to achieve our alleged shared objectives.

Getting Democratic voters (and Obama's 'most ardent supporters') to understand that Democratic politicians have been taking us all for suckers and patsies is the most immediate problem and the challenge.

Gay Rights Activists Accuse Obama Of Silent Homophobia (VIDEO)

bratscheldn   51 minutes ago (6:01 PM)

"White gays, male and female, are far better off than any African-American male today. Skin color is the basic impetus for discrimination throughout the world. I can guarantee you that corporate America will hire a white gay well before an African American. Try getting a taxi as a Black man. Walk through Nordstrom or even Target without getting followed. How about the disperate treatment of Blacks and Latinos in cocaine sentencing. White man product = probation. Black man product = 15 years. The last I looked, gay was not visual. Black and Brown is visual. I am not aware of gays being denied the right to vote, banks red lining entire communities, club memberships being denied, waiting inordinate lengths of time for service in a restaurant. No one has to know an individual is gay. That's just the beginning of the list. Stop trying to equate the two. I support your cause, but will not be insulted."

====================================

You're really going to try to argue that it's ok to discriminate against gays because others are worse off when it comes to discrimination?

I hold membership in several discriminated-against groups (and 'gay' isn't one of them), and all of them are "visible".  Does that trump your one membership?

I think you need to rethink your opinion, because you're as wrong and big0ted as those who you would say are r@c!st.  I recommend you read a book written back in 1970 by Jerry Farber.  I can't even give you the title of (the link with the title in it doesn't appear to make it past the moder@t0rs here --  The title was offensive as h3II back then, but you can imagine what kind of a reception it would get now).  Used copies are available through Amazon (search books at amazon.com by Jerry Farber).

It talked about how different interest groups are bought off in order to get that magic 50 +1. The DLC-controlled Democrats are not looking to satisfy all of us; just enough of us to get legislation passed.  And they will use any tactics they can, including having us at war with each other so as to distract our attention from them and their real constituents (transnational corporations).

Don't fall for it.  Don't go down that road, that you're more oppressed than somebody else.  Until you live in someone else's skin, you have no idea what h3ll living in their skin can be like.

"It's not Obama and the Democrats in Congress who are opposing repeal of DADT. It's the Republicans, almost universally, and particularly the Republicans in the Senate, where the rules allow their minority to prevent repeal. How you can continually fail to see this is a mystery."

===================================================

Obama and Democrats are not doing everything in their power.  Not now, now that the House has fallen to Republican control, and certainly not before the midterms, or when Obama came into power on 1/20/09 and Democrats controlled both chambers of Congress.

Right before the midterms I asked commenters here if they thought Democrats would be as effective at obstructing Republicans as the Republicans as the minority party have been these past 4 years at obstructing Democrats.  Not one said yes.

Obama's been giving silent approval and aid to Republicans by not taking to the bully pulpit over this and all issues important to Democratic voters.

Obama could certainly sign a stop-loss order (read my previous comments here and here before you give me the standard knee-j3rk response about a new president overturning it).

As AxelDC said:
This was an obvious case for reconciliation.  The bill is the DoD budget, and reconcilliation is to avoid filibusters on budget issues.  The House overwhelmingly passed it, the Senate had 57 votes, and Reid and Obama refused to push it through.

What about a stop-loss order on Day 1?  Obama has that authority and Congress would have to override him.

Instead, he thought he would be too clever by half and predictibly fail in the Senate and hope the public would punish Republicans for it.  Didn't quite work out that way did it?  Either pass it in reconciliation in December or the courts will have to do what Obama refuses to do.

The audicity of campaigning, the timidity of governing.

Progressive Lawmakers Want To Make GOP 'Put Up Or Shut Up' On Bush Tax Cuts

If Bush's tax cuts are allowed to expire as they are set to on December 31st, the deficit would be cut in half, instantly.

If the tax cuts are continued for the rich, we would have to borrow $700 billion to pay for it.

If the tax cuts are continued for everyone, we would have to borrow $3 trillion to pay for it.

This 2-year extension "compromise" would have us needing to borrow $70-140 billion for the rich's portion and $383 billion for the middle class's portion.

As usual, Obama intends to deal with this backwards, too -- He intends to give Republicans what they want (tax cuts for the rich) and put off all other legislation for the benefit of the People (like, oh, adding a public option to healthcare legislation) until later, hoping that Republicans will agree out of gratitude for the rich's tax cuts.

It's for actions like this that I call Obama a fraud, a con man.  Any lawyer who negotiated a contract like this on behalf of a client would likely find himself facing a malpractice suit for breach of fiduciary duty.  This is history repeating itself.  This is exactly what Obama did releasing the TARP money.  The banks were over a barrel and wanted the money so badly that Obama just gave it to them, no strings attached.  "We'll talk about transparency, who the banks are actually giving the money to, and regulations later."

Once the money was in spent, the banks said, "Forget you and your regulations and transparency!  We don't have to tell you anything and we're not going to."

Then they gave themselves great big bonuses.

For all of you defending Obama's and Democrats' failure to use the tools available to them to end DADT, and are complacent about laying this at Republicans' feet (and thus doing nothing but complaining about Republicans), what is that going to accomplish?

Do you think John McCain is going to change his position?

Do you think Republicans are going to work in a bipartisan way (compromise, on anything) with Obama and Democrats if liberals complain enough?

I suspect you realize that the answer is 'no'.

So your answer then is for Obama to do nothing, that he has no options to change this policy, to influence change on this policy.

I have an idea for people like you, who think you have no stake in this issue, yet keep protecting Obama and Democrats who can make a difference:

Give up your rights until gays get their rights.

You're a woman?  You're black?  Let's pretend it's 1919, and you can't vote, you can't marry out of your race, you can't drink or eat where white people drink and eat.

How about you voluntarily give up all of the rights you're so patient about letting gays live without?  How about you sit in the back of the bus until gays can serve  openly, protect & defend you/us and the nation?

You need to stop after reading comments and think, let the words sink in, digest the material before you open your mouth and stick your foot in it.  Because your reply makes no sense after I said it's an effort by all branches of government to end the policy.  Not one, but all:

Congress can continue to work on ending it through legislation, while individuals and groups go about ending it through the courts (the Log Cabin Republicans lawsuit has taken 6 years to get to last month's decision in the federal court; it's nowhere near over).   There's no reason all can't happen simultaneously, and should.

All Obama wants to do is kick the can down the road, not have to take responsibility for making politically difficult and dangerous decisions, play 'Hot Potato' with the other branches of government (in all fairness, they, too, are doing the same thing with the executive branch).

And all you want to do is make excuses for Obama.  You don't even know why ("You love him, want to marry him").  It's a good thing not to love politicians; they're fickle, spoil quickly, and lose interest in you and your issues as soon as they've drained your bank account.

It Congress hasn't repealed DADT by the next presidency, then we're years down the line of having lived with a policy that's not been in effect, the arguments for reinstating it (hom0ph0bia) are seriously deflated, making it easier for that Congress to repeal it.

Getting Democratic voters (and Obama's 'most ardent supporters') to understand that Democratic politicians have been taking us all for suckers and patsies is the most immediate problem and the challenge.

OMG, "you guys" seem to have Attention Deficit Disorder, and can't keep it together to read through an entire posted comment.

For had you done that, you would have seen your argument was addressed and decimated:

Congress can continue to work on ending it through legislation, while individuals and groups go about ending it through the courts (the Log Cabin Republicans lawsuit has taken 6 years to get to last month's decision in the federal court; it's nowhere near over).   There's no reason all can't happen simultaneously, and should.

The President took an oath to protect the constitution. The President can not ignore the 'will' of congress.

Congress passed DADT and the congress has to repeal it. Case closed.

=======================================================

I love it when posters who don't know anything about the law 'punctuate' their comments with, "Case closed".

A group of experts in military law have concluded that Obama can end DADT with the stroke of a pen:

Federal law recognizes that the President and Congress share authority to govern the military. In fact, by law currently in effect, Congress has already granted the President authority with respect to military promotions, retirements, and separations in a time of national emergency. This authority includes the power to suspend laws such as 10 U.S.C. § 654. Under 10 U.S.C. § 12305 (“Authority of the President to Suspend Certain Laws Relating to Promotion, Retirement, and Separation), Congress grants the President authority to suspend any provision of law relating to the separation of any member of the armed forces who the President determines is essential to the national security of the United States, during any period of national emergency in which members of a reserve component are serving involuntarily on active duty. The statute states:

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, during any period members
of a reserve component are serving on active duty pursuant to an order to
active duty under authority of section 12301, 12302, or 12304 of this title,
the President may suspend any provision of law relating to promotion,
retirement, or separation applicable to any member of the armed forces
who the President determines is essential to the national security of the
United States.

Obama can can issue an executive order directing the Secretary of Defense to suspend homosexual conduct discharges. As Commander-in-Chief in a time of war, as a matter of national security, he can do basically anything he wants.

Obama can end DADT with an executive order (A group of experts in military law concluded Obama can end DADT with the stroke of a pen):

But like every other issue important to the many different groups making up the Democratic Party's voters, Obama is AW0L.   And so is the Democratic Party's leadership (controlled by the DLC).

"After visiting Senator Harry Reid today, the majority leader, his staff telling us that the president is not engaged, at all, in the repeal of the most discriminatory law that bars soldiers from telling the truth. After all his rhetoric I think we must conclude that there is truth to the knowledge in homophobia of both sorts. There is a loud homophobia, those with platforms. And there is a silent homophobia of those who purport to be our friends and do nothing. Loud homophobia and silent homophobia have the same result, they must be combated and this is what we intend to do today."

It's not called a "bully pulpit" for nothing.  Just like on a public option and single payer universal health care, Obama's real position and agenda on issues important to Democratic voters becomes clear by his  silence, absence, and inaction of what he can, as president, do to deliver on his promises for 'Change'.

Signing a stop-loss order would also go a long way to making an affirmative declaration of intent.

Republicans Seek Democrats To Help Fight Health Care Reform

Democrats should have begun media campaigns to educate Nebraskans about how much better life would be for them with real Democratic reforms.

Democrats should also have started recruiting real Democratic candidates to run against Ben Nelson in 2012.
