Obama Primetime BP Address: HuffPost Exclusive Preview

Monday, June 14, 2010

There can be no meaningful reorganization of the Department of the Interior with Ken Salazar remaining as Obama's secretary.

As Secretary of the Interior under Obama, "Salazar put more acres up for lease than any year ever. All time high. Salazar has always been for drilling and he helped open up the Gulf for drilling, including the lease bloc that BP drilled, WHEN HE WAS A SENATOR so he's always been for this and he went full speed ahead as soon as they got in office and then they pushed for more offshore drilling".

Do you know that Ken Salazar was a US Senator prior to becoming Obama's Secretary of the Interior? Do you know what his record was as senator?

As a senator, Salazar voted to end protections that limit offshore oil drilling in Florida's Gulf Coast. http://www.lcv.org/images/client/pdfs/LCV_2006_Scorecard_final.pdf

He also voted against increasing fuel-efficiency standards (CAFE) for cars and trucks, a vote that the League of Conservation Voters notes is anti-environment. In the same year, Salazar voted against an amendment to repeal tax breaks for ExxonMobil and other major petroleum companies.

Salazar was one of only a handful of Democrats to vote against a bill that would require the United States Army Corps of Engineers to consider global warming when planning water projects. http://www.lcv.org/scorecard/2007.pdf

Tar is a known carcinogen & should be removed from your skin ASAP -- Easier said than done. Some swear by Vaseline, Baby Oil, mineral/vegetable oil, kerosene, GOO Gone! to get it off. I've never had much luck getting it off with anything but nail polish remover (acetone), which while helping to get the clumps of tar off, still leaves a tar stain or residue on your skin that just has to wear off over time (one to two weeks).

Nail polish/acetone/kerosene does NOT work to remove the tar from shoes. Those you just have to throw out (remember to do that before you get home & walk inside your house -- You will never get tar out of carpeting, or wood floors without destroying the finish).

This is what sticks to your feet/shoes after you walk on a Santa Barbara today, 2010 -- You will not see it; it's just below the surface of the sand:

So the question is, is Obama being horribly misinformed, or is he a corrupt Iiar?

Obama Primetime BP Address: HuffPost Exclusive Preview

Obama said what today??:

==THE PRESIDENT: It turns out that if the oil hits the beaches, that's actually probably the easiest to clean up. So it's a concern obviously for tourism, it's a concern for an entire Gulf region that economically depends on the tourist season and this period of time when people are out of school. But those beaches will recover because those big globs of oil, when they hit the beaches, we can send a bunch of people out there and scoop them up, dispose of it properly, and those beaches will look pretty pristine a year or two years from now.==

Obama really said that.

Really.

In 1969, a blow-out on a Union Oil platform six miles off of Santa Barbara "spilled" an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 barrels of crude oil onto the beaches. fouling the coastline from Goleta to the Rincon and all four of the northern Channel Islands.

Forty years later, hotels around Santa Barbara include Tar-Off Towelettes ("Pleasantly Scented Tar Remover: Removes Tar, Grease & Oil") in their baskets of complementary bath products ("Once the gooey stuff gets on your shoes or feet, it’s almost impossible to get off. We recommend that you do not go barefoot, and you may want to take an old pair of shoes or buy some inexpensive ones that you won’t mind throwing away").

The only cuts in this video are where screens have been put in with subtitles. And then the video is overlapped; the action picks up with a repeat from where it had been cut.

Each assault and battery by Etheridge is preceded with either "Do you support the Obama agenda" or a non-response, silence, to Etheridge's demand to know "Who are you?, and there are no cuts between the questions and the assault and battery.

Trying to make the students wrong, or that "it's an edited video, so they must have hit him first" is moot and shows the very worst in Democratic loyalists.

Because Etheridge has apologized. He's not making any claim that they hit him, touched him in any way or prevented his passing.

Etheridge f*cked up, big time.

He should be happy they don't seem to be filing charges with the police, BUT, Etheridge should be facing censure from the House Ethics Committee.

And OJ decapitated his ex-wife because he was in a bad mood.

Being in a bad mood doesn't excuse criminal behavior.

What Etheridge did was a crime. That's assault and battery.

Another mind-reader.

This is the danger of Obama's push for 'prevention detention', that the government should be able to detain citizens, imprison them indefinitely, without any due process, no charges, no judicial oversight, and without having committed any crimes, because the government thinks they might commit one. That the citizen might have thoughts to commit one. http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2009/05/22/preventive_detention

Why didn't the young men call the police? I'd guess they were filled with adrenalin and embarrassed by the whole situation, confused over how a simple school assignment led to an extreme reaction by an authority figure, a United States congressman -- They probably internalized the experience as their having done something wrong, but not having a clue what that might have been.

Completely normal human reaction in such a situation, especially with young men who are still kids, brought up in traditional family homes (they wore suits and ties for this "ambush"), is to go limp, passive, to diffuse the situation. Once it's over, once they were away from Etheridge and the adrenalin had passed out of their systems, they probably got angry, and the video was their best response.

At the very least, Etheridge should be brought up on ethics charges in the House.

Actually these students didn't stick the microphone in Etheridge's face. They remained stationery as Etheridge walked up to and into them, pushed himself, his face into their 'space', and then physically assaulted the young man with the microphone and committed battery on him.

Watch the video again.

I am a liberal Democrat and I am condeming Etheridge's behavior. I think he should be arrested for assault.

You cannot put your hands on another person in that manner -- You can't grab, push, hold, etc., and Etheridge should be arrested for assault. You can't touch another person in any manner without their permission, but obviously the law is a little more lax when the touch isn't as threatening or hostile.

But make no mistake, what Etheridge did was assault.

If Etheridge didn't want to talk to these young men, he should have walked away. Had they pursued him and prevented him from movement, then they would have been breaking the law and could have been arrested.
