Tony Blair's Big Lie Of Omission

Friday, September 3, 2010

Blair could provide a tremendous service to historians (and the citizens of England and the United States) by offering an accurate, eyewitness account of what transpired in the Oval Office that day. What did Blair think of a US president hinting at such trickery to kick-start a war? Did he take Bush's notion seriously? Did Bush propose any other unconventional ideas?

=================================================

So when Blair hits the book tour trail, will any interviewers ask him these questions?

Or will we be treated to the usual, by the usual?

Will Charlie Rose ask him, "What is the one thing that you don’t know that you want to know?"

Will Larry King ask him, "What's Queen Elizabeth like?"

Will Barbara Walters ask him, "If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?"

Sarah Palin Slams 'Impotent,' 'Limp' Reporters Who Use Anonymous Sources

The power players of the GOP do not, repeat DO NOT, want Sarah Palin in the game. She is unpredictable, uncontrollable and cares nothing about what is good for the party.

=====================================

Anyone who believes this knows nothing about politics. Or Sarah Palin, for that matter.

You do not get Sarah Palin. She's not in it, politics, because of passionate ideological beliefs. She's in it for the money and the glory. She's not stup!d; she knows her limits. What she's selling is her 'packaging' (her looks, her ability to deliver a speech, to land punches, and motivate a particular voting bloc on election day to cast their ballots for Republicans. She's willing to be the 'Front', which works for her puppetmasters who do not want or need public recognition. All they want is to control the power of the office of the president (and Congress).

If you want to know who is controlling her, I suggest you begin with googling Fred Malek.

Sometimes I wonder about comments like yours, whether people like you just started paying attention to current events and politics this morning, or whether you're an operative paid to spread disinformation and disrupt organizing by the opposition.

Whichever you are, Sarah Palin made it through the 2008 campaign doing divulging her 'medical records' (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/shannyn-moore/palins-medical-records-re_b_140784.html). In the past, when candidates have pulled charades like this (George W. Bush and his drug arrest records and his TANG records), there has been an active disinformation campaign by his campaign and supporters who make outrageous claims that, "Oh that's old news", or "He's already done that!"

The noise they made during the post-2000-election days in Florida should have educated you about the tactics: Shock & awe, until you run out the clock.

If Palin runs for office again and anyone brings up her medical records, Palin's supporters, the GOP, and the media will all say, "Been there, done that (in 2008); it's not an issue except with fanatic, fringe lefties".

Care to bet on it?

Obama Economic Team Considering New Stimulus Heavy On Tax Breaks For Business

You know that there are a lot of people like your brother-in-law, how?

Fact: Your brother-in-law didn't cause this world-wide depression.

As I don't know your brother-in-law, his wife, the facts of their situation or what goes into their decision-making processes (for all I know, your brother-in-law could drive an 18-wheeler for a living, & without those $5k wheels, he can't work to pay the mortgage & his wife shops at baby boutiques because it's the only place she can get 100% cotton for her child with life-threatening allergies), I'm going to walk you back to a concept that I presumed people reading my suggestion would automatically understand would happen with "retiring People's debt":

Re-regulating the banks, bankruptcy reform (REAL reform, not how the Republicans and DLC/Blue Dog Democrats rigged it in 2005), & REAL credit reform.

If we had the old regulatory system that was in place before Republicans & DLC Democrats began playing fast and loose with out economic system, your brother-in-law wouldn't have been given credit cards or a credit line that he couldn't have paid back. He wouldn't have been able to get a mortgage that he could only afford based on a presumption that the property would only appreciate.

There was a time not very long ago when one of the most trusted professions in this nation, one of the most admired and respected people in the community, was a banker.

Obama To Hold First News Conference Since May

Whoopee.

If this one is like the previous three Obama's done since he's been in the White House, he'll take 5, maybe 6 questions, in the course of the hour, all of which will have been previewed, with his very long-winded answers rehearsed with his communications team.

I want to see Obama face a panel of serious journalists asking piercing questions with the ability to follow-up. Perhaps a panel with Amy Goodman, Laura Flanders, Matt Taibbi, Jeremy Scahill, Rachel Maddow, Danny Schechter, Greg Mitchell, Seymour Hersh, Thom Hartmann, Glen Greenwald, Jane Hamsher, and a few others, instead of the lightweight, mediocre embeds in the White House press corps.

Retiring the People's debt -- Why should that be such a radical idea?

The People who actually labored & made the money & the great economy we had, who haven't been properly compensated for decades (but ripped off by corrupt politicians of what little they were able to put away for retirement, their children's college, & unforeseen emergencies), getting a lifeline that would keep the US from becoming a third world nation.

Retire the American People's debt.

I proposed the idea back when HenryPaulson was scaring Congress into thumb-sucking fetal positions about the imminent collapse of the economic system, and lobbying Congress for unlimited powers & money (TARP).

I continued proposing the idea when Obama was handing out the 2nd half of TARP, & bailing out GM, & paying cash for clunkers (abzurd program, helping the rich yet again, foreign car makers, while hurting working class & used car dealers), & passing FinanceReformLegislation that doesn't prevent another meltdown.

I kept at it while millions have been losing their jobs, their homes, losing their health insurance (& still not having any, despite Obama's great big corporate giveaway to BigInsurance & PhRma), & the economy continues to spiral down.

Now, after WeThePeople are picking up the tab for another unwinnable war so that theDickCheney&Bushes can get transnational gas & oil company dividends from their stock portfolios, the only way that this economy is going to turn around is if the People have money to spend.

Businesses aren't hiring because nobody's buying. Nobody's buying because only the rich have money, & they already buy all that they want & need. That is, by definition, what 'rich' means. Banks got bailed out, they're sitting on the money, & they've giving themselves bonuses.

There's no "lite" about it.

Democrats are just like Republicans, before Ralph Reed told Karl R0ve, "I can deliver 5 million new voters (evangelical Christians) to Republicans come next election".

I also part company with you when you say, "Americans are not very smart at election time." I think Americans are very smart at election time -- When they're given factual information to make decisions on. And when they're l!ed to (as they've been lied to by both political parties now for years), when both parties play the fear-card, Americans respond with their survival instincts. It's only after elections do they find out they've been deceived. Democrats & Republicans will only be able to get away with it for so long, before they experience the blowback of an electorate wanting bl00d. Whether that's going to be 2010, 2012, or beyond, we shall see.

The DLC is trying to marginalize the RepublicanParty by forcing the fringe right of the RepublicanParty into the TeaParty, making the TeaParty the face for the Republican Party, leaving the rest nowhere to go but to the DemocraticParty, which the DLC hopes to control & govern "from the center for 100 years". The DemocraticParty, made over into the old RepublicanParty (right-of-center). All corporate, anti-labor, anti-environment, anti-civil/individual rights, pro-war, surveillance society. Anti-choice (anti-abortion), too.

The tragedy of it all is that you will settle for that, that you believe it's the best you could get, when the fact is that Obama was elected by more people ever in the history of the country to get rid of corporate rule, and restore the democracy to the People. The People were so thoroughly done with Republicans and conservatism after Bush, they voted for a black man in numbers never before seen.

And no sooner was the election over (before actually, with his FISA vote flip-flop in July 2008), did Obama slam the brakes on the momentum of his victory, of HOPE & CHANGE, and adopt all things Bush-Cheney.

Obama may not be as progressive as we might prefer, but he has been a very good president. Trading in some progress on a total disaster would be insanity.

==============================

We part company there.

Obama's been a disaster. He's continuing Bush policies, renaming them something that he hopes the American people will swallow whole. But more are realizing it, catching on to Obama-speak. It's why Obama and the DLC-controlled Democratic Congress are losing the base. But they don't care because the policies that they're installing are Republican policies, which they hope will cause Republicans (politicians & their voters) to support.

That's the DLC's 'master plan', it's what they've been working on for years. We have the DLC, now headed by Obama, to thank for keeping Palin on the public stage as a viable candidate (to GOPers/Teabaggers) in 2012. Obama & RahmEmanuel went after RushLimbaugh & SarahPalin as soon as Obama got into the OvalOffice, in spite of the fact that Limbaugh & Palin have no role in the RepublicanParty. Obama & RahmEmanuel have never gone after the Republican leadership directly. Not MitchMcConnell, not JohnBoehner, not EricCantor, not JohnMcCain (the titular head of the Party, as the last presidential nominee). It's why Obama (nor any of the DemocraticParty leadership) has held the BushAdministration to account.
