Senior citizens die in hospitals/ nursing homes (raising cost of health-care); because children refuse to care for them at home in their dying days.

How can "children" care for sick and infirm elderly in a 24-hour day, with at least 8 of those hours spent working to earn money for a roof over one's head, food, etc.?
Do you have any idea the labor involved, the medical expertise necessary, to care for chronically ill patients?
How old are you? What's your life situation? Do you have a job? Family?
