I think you may be mistaking their actual affiliations, as "left-leaning".  

The proof in who and what a person is is by their actions, not their words.  If you're willing to shelve your leftist principles in order to get access to a White House administration, you're not a leftist.  You're looking to change your class, become one of the powerful insiders yourself.  You've sold your soul.  I think that's true of everyone at MSNBC and CNN.  Some weren't leftists to begin with and still aren't (Ed Schultz and Chris Matthews, are 2 examples).
