"Self-regulation" is a clever term of art to try to distinguish it from deregulation, vinny, but we've known exactly where this road once the push for deregulation began from both parties (beginning in the 1960s).

You don't cut government services, borrow from social security, cut taxes on the rich, start wars, borrow borrow borrow from foreign nations, outsource jobs and manufacturing, bankrupt the nation, without knowing that there's no way you're going to be able to pay for inspectors.
