Superdelegates' Clout CURBED? Democrats Propose Less Influence For VIP Delegates

Sunday, July 11, 2010

You couldn't be more wrong.

There are two points you don't understand. One is Rule 22 & the fact that Democrats refuse to exercise the discretion that Rule22 allows: Making Republicans actually filibuster, instead of just threatening to do it. Rule 22 gives the SenateMajorityLeader the discretion to actually make the call. Filibustering is hard on those soft, pampered bodies.

HarryReid's called Republicans on it exactly once in the last 3 1/2 years, when it was something that Democrats really wanted & needed at that time (when RepublicanJimBunning threatened to filibuster a bill to temporarily extend unemployment benefits -- HarryReid called his bluff & Republicans caved).

HarryReid should make them do it, over every issue where they threaten to do it -- Americans love reality TV. 'Survivor - Washington, DC'.

But Obama & the DLC-controlled DemocraticParty aren't doing that. Because it might actually work to get Democratic voters' legislative agenda made into the law of the land & do good for the People. And that's not what Obama&Company are there for. They're there to do the work of the transnational corporations, & preventing that are the liberals.

So Obama reaches out for Republicans, watering down the legislation that they won't vote for. Because everything that the parties do, both parties, is for the next election campaign. It's all about putting off, not getting anything done, making everything an election issue.
