What Republican 'Soul-Searching'?

So Obama's and Democrats' response, as usual, is to cave.  We're already being primed for it, with stories that "both sides can go to their base and say 'We tried and they didn't budge so now it's time for compromise".

Obama will then make cuts to social programs and the big ticket items like military spending will remain safe.  The chairman of the joint chiefs will continue to live like a billionaire.
