Bob Etheridge Attacks Student: North Carolina Congressman Gets Rough With Interviewer (VIDEO)

Monday, June 14, 2010

The only cuts in this video are where screens have been put in with subtitles.

Each assault and battery by Etheridge is preceded with either "Do you support the Obama agenda" or a non-response, silence, to Etheridge's demand to know "Who are you?, and there are no cuts between the questions and the assault and battery."

Why didn't the young men call the police? I'd guess they were filled with adrenalin and embarrassed by the whole situation, confused over how a simple school assignment led to an extreme reaction by an authority figure, a United States congressman -- They probably internalized the experience as their having done something wrong, but not having a clue what that might have been.

Completely normal human reaction in such a situation, especially with young men who are still kids, brought up in traditional family homes (they wore suits and ties for this "ambush"), is to go limp, passive, to diffuse the situation. Once it's over, once they were away from Etheridge and the adrenalin had passed out of their systems, they probably got angry, and the video was their best response.

At the very least, Etheridge should be brought up on ethics charges in the House.
