From his actions since taking office, Obama clearly didn't mean that for Republicans. He meant that for the base of the Democratic party. That Democratic voters should cave to Republicans. Because all that Obama and the Democrats in Congress have been doing under his authority is churning out Republican-like legislation. Then Obama chastises the base Democrats for not supporting his conceding away their positions.
