Obama Takes Responsibility For Voter Frustration On Election Night

Mass media (& Obama) says Obama overreached when we know he under-reached.

The Tragedy of Under-Reaching

After the Election Disaster: Back to Basics

by Norman Solomon

We need to build a grassroots progressive movement -- wide, deep and strong enough to fight the right and challenge the corporate center of the Democratic Party.

The stakes are too high and crises too extreme to accept "moderate" accommodation to unending war, regressive taxation, massive unemployment, routine foreclosures and environmental destruction.

A common formula to avoid is what Martin Luther King Jr. called "the paralysis of analysis." Profuse theory + scant practice = immobilization.

It's not enough to denounce what's wrong or to share visionary blueprints. Day in and out, we've got to organize for effective and drastic social change, in all walks of life and with a vast array of activism.

And Harry Reid will likely remain as Senate Majority Leader.

This is abzurd.

It feels a bad dream. Or a movie about a rip in the time warp, where US history got redirected after 1960. And in this alternate universe, 'other' United States, everything is backwards and real Democrats have disappeared into thin air. And replaced by D-list movie actors (Ronald Reagan, Charlton Heston and Arnold Schwarzenegger).

Obama Takes Responsibility For Voter Frustration On Election Night

Well said.

In addition, 2 weeks ago Democrats actually tried to float that they'd been blindsided by Citizens United right up to then, the last weeks of the election. They "had no idea that the decision meant so much money could flood into elections...And from foreign sources, anonymously!"

If they didn't know (preposterous), then they are really worthless, inept, and the rest of them need to go.

Obama Takes Responsibility For Voter Frustration On Election Night

I don't see Obama "taking responsibility" for anything; I heard muddled messages, & a press corps helping Obama advance false memes, like "Voters were rejecting Obama because he went too far to the left."

That's really been at the heart of our problems -- A corporate media that gets it wrong.

Obama needs to talk with and to the real Democratic voters who brung 'im and explain his strategy that has Americans losing more ground economically, politically, culturally and morally.

Instead of waging a campaign focused on witchcraft, Ginni Thomas and "We're not as bad as the other guys", I'd have liked to see the media focus on what the candidates (particularly the Democrats) intended to do if they retained power and if they didn't.

Obama & the Democratic leadership told the Times two weeks ago that they're going to do more caving to the Republicans, more "inclusion" & attempts at bipartisanship. He echoed that today. That means that they're moving the Democratic Party even farther to the right-of-right-of-center.

I'd like to see Obama & other Democrats in office face legitimate questions from journalists on the left. I want them to answer seering questions from a panel with Amy Goodman, Laura Flanders, Matt Taibbi, Ezra Klein, Jeremy Scahill, Thom Hartmann, Glen Greenwald, Jane Hamsher, and a few others.

I think we need to get to the bottom of their plans; enough with the 'rhetoric of many interpretations'.

We need the transparency that Obama & Democrats campaigned on.

Kanjorski Loses House Race - And Obama Loses Key Financial Reform Ally

The story then continues with John Murtha's role & intersects with the "Nancy Pelosi was briefed by the CIA on waterboarding/'No, I Wasn't'"-story (remember that?). It appears that Murtha was used by the CIA & BushCo to deceive the 'Gang of 8' and Congress about the waterboarding/t0rture. With this story, we get some insight into how Cheney got all of his & Bush's crimes past Congressional oversight (through his knowledge of how congressional subcommittees operated, from his earlier stint as a congressman):

Here's a background clip of the person that Marcy Wheeler/emptywheel references, Greg Sargent, who in this clip is being interviewed by Rachel Maddow about the Pelosi-CIA story:

There's a part 1 to the clip, which is the lead-in where Rachel summarizes the situation before she gets to Greg Sargent:

Kanjorski Loses House Race - And Obama Loses Key Financial Reform Ally

To my knowledge, Paul Kanjorski is the only witness who can directly place George W. Bush at the scene of the conspiracy to deceive Congress into backing the attack on Iraq with evidence falsified by the CIA.

It's through Kanjorski's account that we learn the Bush-Cheney Administration's scheme, which included the CIA's fabricating photographs for the explicit purpose of deceiving Congress into authorizating the use of military force in Iraq.

After you read that, read this, where Murtha shows up again in this report (this got no reporting in the MSM), where Kanjorski told his constituents in a townhall meeting that he voted to give Bush the authorization to go to war in Iraq based on a briefing he attended with other congressmen at the WhiteHouse (with Bush & CondiRice) in which the CIA presented "smoking gun photos" of Iraq having the ability to fly nuclear/biological weapons to the US mainland.

The photos later turned out to have been faked by the CIA, staged in the southwest US:

Ron Johnson Defeats Russ Feingold In Wisconsin Senate Race

The outcome would've been the same had Nader been in the race or not.

Whatever the means necessary to get BushCheney into the WhiteHouse would've happened. If the means for getting BushCheney into office required a close election & Nader hadn't run, we would've learned about something else that brought the numbers down. (Butterfly ballots anyone?)

Do people forget all the different ways that that election was gamed by the GOP, & all of the ways that the Democratic establishment abandoned Gore?

The CIA was tampering with GOP absentee ballots in the weeks leading up to election day in Florida. JebBush & KatherineHarris spent two years purging legal voters from the polls. Close to 200,000 legal ballots weren't counted. And that's just Florida, & just the ways that we learned about because of legal proceedings in the post-election days.

The powers that be were not going to let Gore win, no matter what, & they gamed it in innumerable ways.

There was a coup d'etat in this country in 2000. Bloodless, but a coup nonetheless, & your believing it's because of RalphNader just proves what dvmb suckers the powers that be take you for.
