Pat Toomey: Americans Who 'Really Need Help' Are A 'Small Segment'

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Toomey isn't running again until 2016.  It's amazing what professional politicians say when they're not running for re-election.  They become the water-carriers for their parties, breaking the ice on unpopular policies that will be put into place after the coming election.

What this latest statement relates to, among other things, is cuts to Medicaid.  Toomey's 2012 budget proposal called for turning Medicaid into a block grant to states and cutting federal funding for the program by half by 2021.  With states going bankrupt and looking to end Medicaid altogether, Toomey's vision would decimate the poorest in our nation.

And before anybody gets all frothy at the mouth and lays it all on Republicans, forget about it: Obama's and Democrats' plans are the same.  Both parties have been playing a shell game for years now, shifting fiscal issues to states and cutting funding while tax-foe Republicans take over state governments. Anyone who didn't see this coming hasn't been paying attention.  The solution at this point is to get rid of all incumbents, and stop voting for Democrats and Republicans.
