I encourage you to watch the clip of Rachel Maddow and Richard Engel. You'll understand that we're not doing nation-building -- We're not even trying. It's a hoax, a money sink, meant only to keep our military there, occupying Afghanistan.
We do not want a democracy in Afghanistan (nor do we care much for it anywhere else), and our history is long when it comes to actually undermining democratically elected governments of countries with resources and people that transnational corporations wish to exploit for their own profit. Afghanistan is no different.
