Emanuel, Pelosi Meet In Capitol To Chart Health Care Course

Saturday, February 27, 2010

Obama ran on words that do not match his actions in office. Obama's numbers are plummeting, he's losing the Democratic base, because people are realizing that they've been l!ed to by Obama.

Since the election (and even before, with his FISA vote), Obama has been deceptive, breaking every campaign pledge and promise, conceding the positions of the left (getting nothing in return), and hobbling real Democrats at every turn while making Republicans and Blue Dogs stronger (and harder to beat in 2010 and 2012).

Obama's most ardent supporters, people like you, are the most immediate problem, as they help him screw them (and us) over. Until they (and you) wake up to these facts, they are the reason we don't get what we all thought we were voting for when we voted Obama and Democrats into office as the majority power in our government.

Obama's most ardent supporters claim that he's a 'centrist'. They say that he always has been (as his record shows) and that those Democratic voters who voted for him because they believed him to be a populist weren't listening. And those conservatives who insist Obama's a liberal are either stup!d or so far right and unpolitically savvy, they don't even belong svcking up space and time on political discussion threads.

To those who thought that during the 2008 campaign, Obama was a moderate and wasn't trying to deceive anyone, what did you think he meant when you heard him saying during the campaign that people had to stay involved after the election, that they couldn't just vote for him, go away for four years and expect that he would do what they had hoped. He said that there were powerful interests working against what the people wanted, and if We The People wanted Obama to do our bidding, we would have to MAKE HIM DO IT.

What did you think he was talking about? Did you think he was trying to deceive the liberals and progressives into believing that he was one of them?

We are where we are in this country because liberals in the Democratic Party have caved (and disappeared), capitulating to the conservatives (both in the Democratic Party and the Republican Party) with each passing election cycle.

I think you need to stand back, look at the bigger picture (and the facts of Democratic collaboration) on more than just the healthcare issue to see how we got here (and where we're going) if we follow your advice and continue along the path the DLC has us on. Imagine how much better off we would be now if, during the last Bush years, Democrats in Congress had done what Republicans are doing now instead of indulging in childish wish fulfillment (Barbara Boxer, "I've always wanted to write a novel so now when we are in the minority, not in control, not doing anything else, I wrote two murder mysteries" - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=barbara+boxer&x=0&y=0 | Patrick Leahy, lifelong Batman fan, was cast in the last Batman movie, and indulged other of his Hollywood fantasies - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0495004/ ).

So, the basic question I have is this: You see how the right rails against any form of change, & stirs the racist undertones as the major fuel to motivate obstruction in their party towards Obama's agendas, from the most minute, to the very important, so, why do you expect him to be able to come in & just completely scrap the whole system of health care & remake it into something NO-ONE ELSE HAS EVEN BEEN ABLE TO GET THIS FAR WITH? It flies in the face of logic. You, I'm PREsuming, lived through the Clinton Presidency, & seen the major defeat he & Hillary suffered on health care, but you just expect Obama to wave his hand &, POOF, message reinforced right , legislation rammed through. Then the big ,"Mission Accomplished!", banner in the background as he unveils his single payer system for all! This is not reality based.

===============================================

What is "THIS FAR"?

And what do you think HillaryCare was? What do you think Bill Clinton was (and is), a liberal?

Do you know what the DLC is?

Do you think that Republicans are accurate when they rail against Obama and say he's a liberal and trying to impose socialist policies?

Progressive Hardball

Monday, February 15, 2010

Obama's timidity is myth -- He's plenty tough when it comes to standing up to the Democratic Party's base.

Democratic voters have mistakenly believed that Obama&Democrats want public health care. The DLC-controlled Democratic party gives lip service to this and all populist issues.

If the Bush years taught us nothing else, it's that anyone can sell anything to Americans, if you're stolid & relentless in your sales pitch & tactics. It's not that Bush&R0ve were geniuses & knew something that nobody else knew; Bush&R0ve were just more ruthless (clumsy & careless many political graybeards would say) in doing what politicians & the parties had gone to great lengths to hide from Americans.

Obama didn't get to be the first black president, vanquish the Clinton machine & the oldest, most experienced politicians in our nation's history (including the Rove machine) by not having mastered these skills. Nor do Democratic politicians (more incumbents than ever, in office longer) not know how to do it. How do you think Democrats managed to keep the impeachment of Bush&Cheney off the table & have us still reelecting them, not marching on Washington with torches&pitchforks?

Obama&Democrats know how to do it -- They don't want to do it.

The trick for them has been to keep the many different populist groups believing that they really do support our issues, but that they're merely inept. And to get us to keep voting for them in spite of their failure to deliver on any of our alleged shared objectives.

The Pundit Candidate: How Cable News Networks Are 'Being Taken Advantage Of' By Future Candidates

It's not the cable news networks that are "being taken advantage of', but the American people.

RNC attorneys jumped all over executives at MSNBC when Ed Schultz and Chris Matthews were thinking about running for Senate, insisting that they be taken off the air, in spite of the fact that the law requires that they be actual candidates for public office http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/47/315.htmll).

But the law hasn't stopped Republicans from bullying others into their way of thinking. It's too bad that DNC attorneys aren't as zealous, but then again the DNC is controlled by the DLC (DINOs, Republicans-lite).

Perhaps the solution is to change the law, and prevent all appearing on these cable programs from running for public office in any upcoming election cycle. That would mean that Palin and Gingrich couldn't run for any office in 2010, and offices where the next soonest election is 2012 (presidency/vice-presidency).
