I find this story tragic, for so many different reasons, but chief among them is that the man doesn't understand the basics of cloning, and seems to believe that he'll be getting the original pets back. He really is the example that there are people with too much money who shouldn't be allowed to do with it as they please.
if the choice is to spend $310,000 on an experience which isn't going to do what he hopes or spending the money to save a human's life, we would then be in a quandary over "Which someone?" It could just as easily be someone who may directly or indirectly lead to a momentous discovery which would better the human condition for everyone, as it could be someone who might later give birth to a seriaI kiIIer. It's a gamble any way, but I think most would agree the money would be better spent on humans alive today.
