Message to Democrats: Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Friday, November 5, 2010

I didn't interpret his body language that way.

I saw it as staged, fake. Acting.

I hadn't intended on writing about it, or even commenting on it, until a couple of hours afterwards, on Hardball, HowardFineman reported that the WhiteHouse wasn't shocked by the loss or by the numbers. They live & d!e by polls, know them to be accurate, & knew down to the precise number how many seats they were going to lose.

Then ChrisMatthews said:

"I kept thinking, watching him—I kept thinking of people taking poise lessons when they‘re young women & men, where you walk with the book on your head & you don‘t show any kind of nervousness or anything. It seemed like the most important thing he was doing today was keeping his poise, not showing any shellshock."

Matthews got it. It was a politic way for Matthews to get on the record his doubts about Obama's authenticity, that Obama's affect (psychological) was deliberate, considered.

The WhiteHouse knows what caused the losses (& it's not the publicly declared, "We didn't advertise our accomplishments enough", or "We went too far left").

They knew at the time they were caving to Republicans, passing Republican-like legislation that their only hope was to spin it as "great reform for the People", & "accomplishments for Democrats" & try to hypnotize Democratic voters into believing it was true.

If Obama really felt defeated, he'd change course. But he's not.
