Of course it's a valid question. She did something she didn't want to do because her husband wanted her to do it, because her religion told her to submit to her husband's authority over her.
So she either supports separation of church and state (which her base doesn't support) or, by avoiding the question, she's either stupid (for not knowing the definition of submission
