Coverage on a parents policy until 26. Not being able to be dropped or get coverage because of pre-existing conditions.

This was a bone that was tossed to a specific portion of constituen
ts.
How many 26 year olds do you think are affected by this? This is just 26 year olds whose parents have insurance, which of course presumes that they have jobs and will continue having jobs and insurance themselves
. Obama cuts Pell grants, these kids have no jobs, no future, but they'll have insurance up until they're 26 (and their parents have insurance/
jobs).
Then there's pre-existi
ng conditions
. It's not exactly as you paint it. Insurance companies are not required to cover pre-existi
ng conditions for free, you realize, or even be required to treat the pre-existi
ng condition that prevented the person from getting insurance previously
. Insurance companies can jack up the prices on the premiums, on the co-pays, on the deductible
s, making treatment out of reach for people who have insurance.
That brings me to the subject of pragmatism
.
