Michele Bachmann's History As A Foster Parent Remains Murky

Friday, July 1, 2011

If you want to beat the Michele Bachmanns, it helps to understand and know something about them.  She's not a moron.  She's well-educated (reasonably, and certainly better than most Americans), knew the material well enough to graduate high school and get into a state university, graduate law school, get a degree from William and Mary in tax law, and get a job as an attorney in the US Treasury Department for the US Federal Tax Court.

She's playing to a particular audience and she does it well.  Does she believe what she says?  Yes -- She's a conservative Chr!stian married to a psychologist who believes that gay can be prayed away.  She comes from a Democratic family and became a Republican in college in reaction to reading Gore Vidal's opinions written in his novel Burr.

At the same time, the anti-abort!on movement was active in Minnesota and she had a boyfriend who got her involved in the movement.

In the 1970s, Michele Bachmann and her 'pray-the-gay-away' Christian counselor husband were part of a group of 'sidewalk counselors', protesters of abortion at Planned Parenthood clinics. Their 'territory' was the same ones where the very first bombings of abortion clinics began in the US.

The children fostered by the Bachmanns were all teenaged girls and said to have been used as domestics (to cook, clean and babysit their 5 biological home-schooled children).  The foster children were NOT home-schooled, by the way.
