'The King's Speech' Director Tom Hooper Wins Directors Guild Of America Award, Shocks David Fincher Of 'The Social Network'


That got posted before I finished the comment.

Making George VI more attractive a human being (by ignoring his less attractive qualities, by omitting his anti-sem/i­t/c sentiments­, by casting Firth instead of Bob Hoskins, etc.) to tell the story of a man handicappe­d in performing the job he was bred for (ironicall­y), a job where everyone's fate (not just his nation's, but the entire world's) was at stake, is what a theatrical production is all about.
