Obama cut a deal that Democratic members of Congress did NOT ask him to do. He knee-cappe
d them, and instead of listening to Democrats, instead of listening to the People, Obama's fighting his own party.
He's trying to influence the public, to provoke those who are not well-infor
med into going along with the deal. The "mushy middle", as I call them, those Independen
t voters who make up their minds about who to vote for in each election at the last possible moment, based on who got to them right before they entered the voting booth, is who Obama is targeting.
I think what's particular
ly noteworthy is that Obama is going against the base of the Democratic Party. The people who actually worked to get him into the White House.
This really is a fight for the soul of the Democratic Party, a w@r between the DLC (DINOs, the Republican wing of the Democratic Party, pro-corpor
ate, pro-war, anti-popul
ist) and
real Democrats (those who support the platform of the Democratic Party). It's a war that Democratic voters thought they'd fought and won for 3 election cycles now, but each time the DLC has swooped in and taken over the controls again. This latest time, with a quisling candidate (Barack Obama).
Obama's deal throws Democratic constituen
ts and those that the Democratic Party is known to champion (the poor, middle classes, the elderly, students, the unemployed
, families, the disenfranc
hised) under the bus.
The extension of unemployme
nt for 13 months is a drop in the bucket, and it doesn't cover the 99ers (those whose unemployme
nt has run out). This deal does nothing to develop jobs, and as anyone who has gotten unemployme
nt knows, it's d@mned near impossible to live off of. Consider this deal along with the
NAFTA-like deal that Obama just completed with S. Korea; many more Americans are going to be losing their jobs to outsourcin
g overseas.
Do you know that
every single item in the deal that Obama claims was a win for Democrats is actually
all Republican initiated?
I keep trying to remind people of what was reported in the NYT last week:
"Privately, Obama describes himself as a Blue Dog Democrat (Blue Dog = Republican)."
Americans, particular
ly Democratic voters, are getting played, big time.
