During the 2008 campaign, he flip-flopped on public financing.



Obama replied "yes" in September 2007 when asked if he would agree to public financing of the presidential election if his GOP opponent did the same. Obama later attached several conditions to the agreement, including regulating spending by outside groups. And then later still, when he changed his mind, Obama's spokesman denied that Obama had ever committed himself on the matter.
