Gulf Oil Spill: Scientists Beg For A Chance To Take Basic Measurements

It turns out that BP has not put a dime of the $20 billion deal it made with Obama into an escrow account. The law remains that all BP or any oil company is liable for is $75 million. Should BP declare bankruptcy, it would not be on the hook for the $20 billion it pledged.
Obama needs to put BP's US operation into temporary receivership, shut down BP's other operations in the US.
Obama also needs to man-up about the fact that it's his administration preventing journalists' access to the area, and stop kicking this can down the road, as is Obama's habit on everything. We need a Manhattan-project on energy and we need it now. $2 billion toward solar is a joke. We need to get off of an oil economy, and not gradually. This isn't a job for the "split the difference"-"cut the baby in two"-Barack Obama. This calls for bold leadership
