Net Neutrality: We're Still Waiting

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

It's good that this and other issues important to the online community be front and center in the weeks before the election.

Voters should be measuring the effectiveness of their elected representatives, all of them, including Obama, even though he's not up for reelection this time).  It's not accurate at all to lay this on Republican obstructionism.  Yes, Republicans are a problem, but the fact that Obama and Democrats don't do everything within their power to further the ball tells us that they're not the people to get the job done on our behalf.

My own representative is the head of the Progressive Caucus in the House and a less powerful, more non-effective person would be hard to come by.  When members of the Progressive Caucus take a pledge (like not voting on any healthcare reform legislation that doesn't include a public option) and then renege on it, en masse, it's time for them to lose their seats in Congress.  If it means that a Republican gets in, so be it.  It's just for 2 years (we survived Bush & Cheney for 8), and in the interim we find real Democrats and not DLCers (DINOs) to bring the nation back to sanity.

We know now that Obama is not committed to working on behalf of the People.  Just the corporations.

Fired U.S. Attorneys: Bush Administration 'Turned The Justice Department Into The Laughingstock Of The Country'

What am I smoking?

Obama has blocked and buried scientific information about the true amount of oil, the extent of the damage, let BP run the show (he's let criminals process their own crime scene), made an inadequate and bogus non-binding deal with BP, allowed BP to poison the Gulf with a toxic substance for the sole purpose of hiding their culpability.  Obama continues to allow this criminal corporation to continue dangerous and risky drilling in sensitive waters which the US gets most of its seafood, and not one person in BP has faced criminal charges for the deaths of 26 people at BP operations.

You're the walking bra!nde@d.

Obama: Reforms, Economy Are 'Moving In The Right Direction' (VIDEO)

My point is that he didn't try for single payer.  He cut a deal that prevents any public option to control costs at least as long as his time in the White House.

Obama's as corporate a t00I as Republicans.

Obama: Reforms, Economy Are 'Moving In The Right Direction' (VIDEO)

Too late; I'm already started (on the 'donut hole'), I'm on a roll.

Obama traded away the single biggest costs' savings and bargaining chips for lowering pharmaceutical costs for Americans (on drugs that only exist because the American taxpayer subsidized their R&D on the proviso that We The People would wind up owning these drugs, i.e., getting them dirt cheap) when refused to allow the government to bargain on drug costs and reimportation.

These greedy b@stards (PhRma, Insurance industries) got windfalls from Republicans AND Democrats with the Medicare Reform Act of 2003.  Imagine their delight when in 2010, Democrats let it happen again.

ObamaCare is about forcing Americans to purchase 'junk insurance'. It does nothing to reign in the skyrocketing costs of healthcare. It's not healthcare for all. None of the loopholes discovered (surprise!) a day after its passage have been closed (it doesn't cover all children, it doesn't keep all under 26-year-olds on their parents' insurance, etc.).

With the deal that Obama made with phRma, hospitals & the AMA & Big Insurance, there can be no PublicOption as long as Obama's in the WhiteHouse. The only "start" about it is that it's the beginning of the end of all public healthcare programs (Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, CHAMPUS, veterans' care, etc.).
