Gulf Oil Spill: Tony Hayward Attends Glitzy Yacht Race As Oil Spews Into Gulf

Saturday, June 19, 2010

It seems that was more of a language translation mix-up. I think Frank Luntz is advising BP now, to say "up" when they mean "down", "in" when they mean "out", etc.

BP Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg said CEO Tony Hayward will relinquish control of Gulf operations

BP clarified Svanberg meant in the long term, not the short term

BP Managing Director Bob Dudley will take over long-tem response

(CNN) -- BP is clarifying comments Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg made Friday in a broadcast interview, that BP Chief Executive Officer Tony Hayward will relinquish control over the company's daily operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

BP spokesman Andrew Gowers tells CNN that Svanberg was just reflecting a June 4 announcement about BP Managing Director Bob Dudley taking over the long-term disaster response. He said Hayward's current role has not changed.

BP spokesman Robert Wine tells CNN that Dudley's duties involve political and community relationships. Dudley is from Mississippi, a state whose coast has been greatly affected by the oil spewing through the Gulf since the BP-operated Deepwater Horizon rig exploded off shore almost two months ago.

Obama Oil Spill Speech Ratings: 32 Million Watch, Down From Previous Speeches

And I would laugh at your insinuation that a US senator and congressman (Bill Nelson and Anthony Weiner) aren't experts on what government does, but it's downright tragic that you wouldn't know that.

Ronnie Lee Gardner Executed By Firing Squad In Utah

It's not for the executioners, who couldn't care less about having delivered the fatal shot. I mean, they volunteered for this, and if you read the account of this execution, they didn't even wait to the end of the countdown -- They started firing on the "-2-".

It's for the fiction in support of capital punishment, to lend the impression that it's thoughtful and careful. It's so people don't have to have nightmares, or take responsibility for what's being done in their names with the authority that their votes give the authorities.

Why would you care? They're off the street, no danger to anyone except others in the penal system.

Innocent people have been convicted and sentenced to death. Should they not be afforded every opportunity to prove their innocence, and ultimately test our system of justice?

You sound awfully bloodthirsty.

The Man Who Wasn't There: A Whole Day Of Tony Hayward's Obfuscating In Four Minutes

Obama has a real casual relationship with the truth, and he uses language in a similar way that Bush did, only with Bush it took a team of public relations experts and speech writers creating oxym0ronic rhetoric.

Go back and listen to Candidate Obama's speeches, interviews, debates. Or better yet read them, with your now experienced ears. After a year and a half of seeing how the promises he made during the campaign have turned out (dropped by the wayside, kicked to the curb).

This blind loyalty to Obama, undeserved, unearned, doesn't serve your best interests. The sooner you recognize that, it will be the only opportunity of having Obama & Democrats fulfill their campaign promises.

The Man Who Wasn't There: A Whole Day Of Tony Hayward's Obfuscating In Four Minutes

Do you remember Obama's press conference a couple of weeks ago? http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2010/05/obama_on_bp_oil_spill_im_fully.html Do you recall the excuse he gave, about why his Interior Department issued exemptions to BP:

"[T]here is a thorough environmental review as to whether a certain portion of the Gulf should be leased or not. . . . .Under current law, the Interior Department has only 30 days to review an exploration plan submitted by an oil company. That leaves no time for the appropriate environmental review. The result is, they're continually waived. And this is just one example of a law that was tailored by the industry to serve their needs instead of the public's."

It's not true.
