Disclose Act: Super PAC Transparency Legislation To Be Introduced By House Democrats

Thursday, January 26, 2012

There is no reason for it to "take forever".

When you think of what's at stake, what's hanging in the balance, it's a matter of motivation.

Unions can't possibly be compared to corporations, and those who don't understand this are obviously not working for a living.

This is what happens without unions, and it's coming back to the US unless money is taken out of politics.  All campaigns must be publicly financed, personhood status must be removed from corporations and the lobbyist shuffle (switchbacking between government and corporations) has to be outlawed.

Disclose Act: Super PAC Transparency Legislation To Be Introduced By House Democrats

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

It would make absolutely no difference (if it mattered at all - more on that later) because a way around disclosure and transparency and continuing to be able to contribute to these Super PACS would be in place before anybody agreed to it.  Just like McCain-Feingold was really about stalling off reform.  Just like the insurance industry had already figured out a way around medical loss ratio.

The only reason to allow Super PACs to exist is for being able to buy politicians and elections.

How would it hurt?  How would it hurt either party?

You already know who is behind the ads that Super PAC money purchases -- The other guy.

Knowing who is behind them doesn't change anything -- The ads themselves do what they are intended to do:  Flood the air waves and plant memes in the minds of the viewing public, change perception, create propaganda waves to influence and move public opinion.

If either party was honorable, they'd be leading the charge for public financing of campaigns and ending corporate personhood.

Rick Santorum On Opposition To Abortion In Cases Of Rape: 'Make The Best Out Of A Bad Situation'

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Asked by CNN's Piers Morgan what he would do if his own daughter approached him, begging for an abortion after having been raped,

=========================================

The question should have been, "What if it had been your wife who had become pregnant after being brutally beaten and raped?"

And just to punctuate it for Santorum, "by a black man".  By someone whose child Santorum can't pretend might be his own.  I think we know what Santorum's answer would be ("I'd make the best out of a bad situation"), but is there anyone who believes that it's what the Santorums would actually do?

In the past when faced with the choice of sticking to their anti-abortion convictions or terminating a pregnancy, the Santorums aborted their child.  They rationalized their decision (to abort), as I'm sure they'd do if Karen Santorum found herself pregnant with her rapist's child.
